A+ Attendance Support Program

Ensuring every student attends school regularly and thrives.

attendance

Regular school attendance is not just important, it’s crucial. Students who miss school frequently are not only at a higher risk for substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and delinquency, but they also miss out on crucial learning opportunities. Our A+ Attendance program, established in 2006, has been a cornerstone in empowering families and promoting the academic success and well-being of our members.

Our initiative supports consistent school attendance, nurture tomorrow’s leaders, and remove educational barriers. In partnership with the St. Lucie County School District and funded by the Children’s Service Council, we serve 15 schools with five attendance advocates, all working towards a common goal of ensuring every child’s regular school attendance.

Truancy is when a student stays away from school without a valid reason. All children within compulsory attendance age MUST attend school regularly. As required by law, a truancy petition can be filed when a student has five (5) unexcused absences in 30 days or 10 unexcused absences within 90 days.
