Occupational Therapy for Kids Who Need Support

Occupational Therapy for Kids

What is Occupational Therapy for Kids?

Occupational therapy is the process of building occupational day-to-day skills among struggling children. These skills may include seemingly ordinary tasks like brushing teeth, holding a pencil, playing or getting dressed. The meaning of occupation is different for children as compared to adults.

At Beyond Infinity ABA, we provide customized occupational therapy for your children with a special focus on autism and related issues. Our expert children’s occupational therapists work on children’s motor skills across various environments. Many families are familiar with occupational therapy, but if you are just starting, we are here.

How Child Occupational Therapy for Autism Helps

Our Pediatric Occupational Therapy for kids identify the core issues of children, especially in the motor domain, and help them develop the necessary skills. These skills help them in daily tasks at home, in school or society. Some of the areas we usually focus on include:

Motor Skills

Helping to grasp small objects, write or improve coordination, balance and body awareness.

Sensory Integration

Assisting those who overreact or underreact to touch, sound, or movement, etc.

Daily Skills

Self-care routines like dressing, brushing teeth, and other daily jobs.

Social Skills

Facilitating interaction, sharing, and play to build confidence and relationships.

Classroom Readiness

Supporting attention span, posture, hand strength, and other school-based skills.

Common Signs That Show Your Child Needs an OT:

Delayed Motor Skills

Skills related to motor neurons are delayed, like walking, running or drawing, etc. Your child’s body movements are slower than those of normal children.

Sensory Problems

Signs of sensitivities to the sensory stimulus, for example, sound, touch or light, etc. The child may try to avoid complex play, resist wearing clothes or show discomfort with loud noises.

Daily Tasks Difficulties

Daily tasks like brushing, zipping or buttoning shirts or eating are difficult. If your child is struggling with these, you might need to book an OT.

Affective Domain Problems

It is difficult for your child to express emotions or calm themselves. They may also face challenges while switching from one activity to another.

Lack of Independence

OT can also help build autonomy if your child is facing a problem in this sector. Some children require more help with their day-to-day tasks than their peers.
