Since 2002, Berger & Föhr have worked as one — two voices in shared authorship. In 2010, we founded our eponymous studio, formalizing a practice rooted in systems thinking, clarity, and instinct. Today, our work spans art and design, where identities and artworks emerge in dialogue with culture.

Mission
Our mission is to create work of lasting value — identity systems and artworks that outlive trend and contribute meaningfully to our times. We design with focus and restraint, guided by strategy and refined through collaboration. We balance intuition with intention.
Whether shaping brands or producing art, we seek relevance, desirability, and significance — building frameworks that adapt and evolve over time. With more than two decades of shared authorship, we’ve found the most meaningful work emerges where curiosity meets craft, and where creative vision sparks cultural significance.
History
Our collaboration began in 2002, grounded in shared authorship, strategic reduction, and the pursuit of form. In 2010, we launched Berger & Föhr — an independent practice where art and design converge, shaped equally by modernist heritage and contemporary experimentation.
From the outset, we have worked with individuals, institutions, and brands to advance ideas of cultural significance. Our work spans identity systems, digital and editorial design, exhibition graphics, and process-driven artworks. Across disciplines, our commitment remains the same: to create enduring work — intelligent in structure, clear in expression, and capable of carrying meaning forward.
Philosophy
Like artworks, identity systems serve as vehicles for memory and meaning. Their strength lies not in novelty but in the richness they acquire through use, repetition, and time.
Our thinking is rooted in distilled simplicity: the more direct the work, the stronger its communication. Every system we design is built for adaptability and appropriateness — structured to remain vital as contexts shift.
Expertise
Our interdisciplinary practice spans art and design, with a focus on identity systems, visual communication, and image-making. Each project reflects the accumulated insight of our shared practice, bringing coherence and value to the work we create.

Discovery
Every engagement begins with discovery — listening, observing, and gathering context. We examine history, audience, values, and goals to establish the foundation for creative decisions.
Insights
Research and analysis reveal patterns, connections, and opportunities. These insights shape narrative, set direction, and guide the tone of the work.
Strategy
Insights are distilled into action, clarifying core ideas and establishing orientation. Definition and differentiation give way to attributes and principles that frame the system.
Design
With strategy in place, design begins — exploring form: concept, scale, proportion, rhythm, color, and composition. Design is iterative and reflective, where experimentation meets careful refinement.
Form
Where strategy and design crystallize and the work is implemented with thoughtfulness and precision. Ideas extend into systems, experiences, and images — realized with clarity and built to last.
