Beholder

Beholder is a game where the Government appoints you as the new person in charge of a building. Your duty as a new landlord is to monitor tenants and report any illegal activity.

In the vein of stories like Orwell's novel "1984," Beholder transports you to a world where the government seeks total control of the population by having them spy on one another. You, the new owner, are just another pawn in the building, as it's your duty to monitor and report on the tenants, as well as keep up with the building's maintenance.

For example, your first task in Beholder is to place security cameras in your own home. Like this, you'll learn a basic mechanic of the game: entering homes when the tenants aren't there in order to place security cameras that will capture any illegal activity. These activities range from using drugs to reading books to eating apples. In fact, in Beholder, you'll often come across government directives of this type.

As in games like Papers, Please, in Beholder, you'll have to make many tough decisions that boil down to whether to comply with orders or try to find a way out. You might have to report on tenants who have helped you.
