Merry Christmas!

We were at South Haven Beach in time to see the morning shake down voyage of the reconstructed sloop "Friends Good Will". It was scheduled to sail three more times this afternoon for the South Haven Harbor Festival. We got to the beach early enough to get a parking spot in the on-beach parking lot, yeah!

Bits of history associated with the original sloop:

- "We have met the enemy and they are ours - two ships, two brigs, one schooner and one sloop." - U.S. Commodore Oliver Perry; Sept. 13, 1813, Battle of Lake Erie. The sloop was the 'Friends Good Will'

-She was burned during the British invasion Buffalo, NY, during the war of 1812.
