Chief Commercial Officer – BCHL

The Chief Commercial Officer will be the League’s commercial voice, responsible for building the partnerships, media strategy, and external relationships that define the BCHL’s long-term growth. Reporting directly to the Chairman and Commissioner, you will act on their behalf across all commercial and relationship-facing matters, bringing both strategic direction and hands-on execution to a portfolio that spans sponsorship, media rights, ecosystem development, and financial sustainability.

Areas of focus

What you will do

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward league sponsorships and partnerships, managing the lifecycle of the relationship
  • Serve as the League’s primary external commercial relationship holder, ensuring partnerships are healthy, growing, and aligned with the BCHL’s brand and mission
  • Build and manage relationships with adjacent leagues, governing bodies, and organizations across the broader hockey ecosystem
  • Develop and execute media and streaming strategy with a focus on long-term audience growth and brand integrity
  • Guide content and distribution strategy (broadcast, digital, and streaming) in a way that builds the League’s profile and creates commercial opportunity
  • Explore non-traditional funding avenues, including grants and government partnerships, to support the league and its events
  • Contribute to Strategic Plan development, particularly in the areas of commercial sustainability and growth-oriented initiatives such as expansion, events, and media rights
  • Advise the Chairman and Commissioner on the commercial implications of key decisions
  • Provide oversight across all commercial activities, including deal structuring, pricing, and forecasting
  • Ensure all commercial decisions are evaluated against long-term financial sustainability for the League and its Member clubs
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the League’s Member clubs, supporting them to grow their unique opportunities

What we are looking for

  • A proven track record of building commercial partnerships and delivering revenue growth in sport, entertainment, media, or a closely adjacent field
  • Experience operating at a senior level. Comfortable advising leadership, presenting to boards, and serving as an external face of an organization
  • Strong understanding of the sports media and streaming landscape, and how content strategy connects to commercial outcomes
  • A relationship-first approach. You invest in partnerships for the long-term
  • Experience in the hockey ecosystem, ideally with existing relationships across junior hockey, college hockey, and professional leagues
  • Sound commercial judgment. You can structure deals, understand financial implications, and communicate them clearly to stakeholders
  • The entrepreneurial instinct to see opportunity where it isn’t obvious, and the discipline to pursue it strategically
  • A degree in business, commerce, sport management, or a related field is an asset. Equivalent senior leadership experience is equally valued

What we offer

  • The anticipated salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $145,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.
  • Full-time. Initial 3-year term with renewal
  • Anticipated start date of August 1st, 2026
  • Fully remote with travel for league events, business meetings, etc. Must be located in Western Canada (Alberta or British Columbia)

Deputy Commissioner – BCHL

The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for the governance, operations, and long-term sustainability of the BCHL’s development league system. Reporting directly to the BCHL Commissioner and Development League Executive Committee, this role leads competitive, well-run leagues that develop athletes and reflect the values of the BCHL and the development leagues it oversees.

Areas of focus

  • League governance: Bylaws, rules, discipline and operating standards
  • Hockey operations: Eligibility, transactions, scheduling and season structure
  • Stakeholder relations: Governors, clubs, operators and the BCHL office
  • Strategic growth: Pipeline development, expansion and ecosystem health

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary executive authority for the BCHL’s development league portfolio, acting on behalf of the Commissioner in all development league matters
  • Implement governance frameworks, operating standards, and strategic priorities across all development leagues
  • Maintain, interpret, and enforce league bylaws, rules, and regulations with consistency and procedural fairness
  • Lead the annual operational calendar for each league, including scheduling, playoffs, events, and season structure
  • Own all hockey operations functions, including player eligibility, transactions, and roster compliance
  • Manage the disciplinary process across development leagues including reviewing incidents, issuing rulings, and ensuring fair outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on player registrations, transfers, and transactions
  • Support the identification, administration, and advancement of players from the development leagues into the BCHL
  • Promote high standards of player welfare, safety, and conduct across all leagues
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the BCHL and development league Executive Committees, ensuring clear and productive communication
  • Build trusted working relationships with governors, team owners, and operators
  • Engage with member clubs on operational challenges, offering guidance, resources, and practical problem-solving support
  • Represent the development leagues within the BCHL Board and executive structure, providing regular updates and strategic input to the Commissioner
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the development league portfolio, including potential expansion and ecosystem health

What we are looking for

  • Significant experience in hockey operations, league administration, or sport governance
  • A thorough understanding of how development leagues function, including eligibility rules, player transactions, scheduling, and the competitive and regulatory frameworks that govern them
  • Demonstrated ability to manage governance processes fairly and decisively
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the credibility to work effectively with governors, club operators, coaches, and players
  • The organizational discipline to manage multiple leagues, calendars, and operational priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can draft clear correspondence and speak with authority before governors, board members, and club operators.
  • A belief in the development mandate. Understanding that the work done at this level shapes the trajectory of the athlete
  • Experience working within or alongside a senior league office structure is an asset
  • A degree in sport management, business, or a related field is an asset. Equivalent professional experience is equally valued

Athletic Therapist – Chilliwack Chiefs

The Chilliwack Chiefs are currently accepting applications for the position of Athletic Therapist for the 2026–27 BCHL season. We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and team-oriented individual who is passionate about player health, performance, and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services for players throughout the season.
  • Deliver medical coverage at all team practices, games, and team-related events.
  • Work closely with the team physiotherapist and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive player care.
  • Design and monitor treatment, recovery, and return-to-play programs.
  • Coordinate medical appointments and communication with physicians, specialists, and healthcare providers when required.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential medical records and injury documentation.
  • Manage player taping, bracing, and game-day preparation.
  • Ensure all medical procedures and protocols comply with BCHL standards and league requirements.

Qualifications

  • Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C) certification required).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working in hockey or other high-performance sports environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with the team throughout the season.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on certification, experience, and the overall scope of responsibilities. Travel expenses will be covered in accordance with team policy. Additional details regarding compensation and benefits will be discussed with shortlisted candidates during the interview process.
