Budget 2026: BCCPA’s Submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services


In June 2025, BCCPA presented our 2026 budget submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, advocating for an integrated and well-coordinated continuum of care and support services for older adults in B.C.

Our recommendations included:

  • The establishment of a tax credit to help seniors age in the right place
  • A refreshed funding model for Assisted Living
  • Renewed investment in capital improvements through the successful EquipCare BC program
B.C. Independent Living Survey Report 2025 

In December 2025, BCCPA released the latest report, the B.C. Independent Living Survey Report. Developed as a collaboration between BCCPA and Westbridge Group, this report represents a significant milestone in restoring the depth and reliability once provided by CMHC’s trusted seniors housing survey.

The report offers data on average rents, vacancy rates, saturation levels, and five-year growth forecasts for independent living spaces in B.C., broken down by categories like suite size and geographic region.

Tax Credit for Aging the Right Place – Rapid Jurisdictional Scan (September 2023)

Jurisdictional Scan of Credential Recognition for Internationally Educated Nurses in Canada and Abroad (July 2023)

The purpose of this jurisdictional scan is threefold. Firstly, it offers a comprehensive insight into the measures adopted by provinces and territories in Canada, as well as other countries like Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Sweden, to simplify the licensure procedures for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs). Secondly, the scan identifies the top-priority countries for expediting licensing within each jurisdiction. Lastly, it evaluates the financial resources and investments dedicated to supporting both IENs and regulatory bodies in streamlining their processes.
