Patch 1.121.361 - NO UPDATES NEEDED
Written by Basemental
The latest patch released has been fully tested, and I’m happy to report that none of my mods were broken or negatively affected.
I have however released a small update to the Patreon version of Basemental Drugs. This update ensures that the new region introduced with the Royalty & Legacy expansion pack, Ondarion, properly supports legalization mechanics and the mod’s fluctuating regional price system.
In addition, the Universal Venue List just got updated with full compatibility with the new region. You can grab that here.
No emergency fixes required this time, just some forward compatibility improvements.
Stay tuned, and happy Simming!
Dustbound Fairies Release
Written by Basemental
After a longer-than-expected development cycle, the Dustbound Fairies update for Basemental Drugs is finally here.
This release introduces a brand-new optional package that completely overhauls how fairies work, how they interact with drugs, and how other Sims perceive them. What started as a smaller feature grew into a complex system touching emotions, visibility, intoxication, and transformation mechanics, which is why this update took more time than originally planned.
Dustbound Fairies requires the Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack and is fully optional, but it adds some of the deepest and weirdest gameplay Basemental Drugs has seen so far.
You can find the full change log on my Patreon or the download page if you are a premium member on this site, as this feature is still not out as a public release.
Troubleshooting Guide: Help Us Help You!
Written by Basemental
Sometimes, issues in The Sims 4 can cause disruptions that players might initially think are related to mods. However, before assuming that one of my mods is the cause, there are a few troubleshooting steps that can help identify the true source of the problem. These steps are simple to follow and often reveal whether another mod or piece of custom content (CC) is responsible.
Steps to Troubleshoot
If you encounter issues, here’s a quick way to test if my mods are really the source of the problem:
Move Other Mods and CC Temporarily: Place all mods and CC except for Basemental Drugs, Gangs, Gambling, and Venue List in a temporary folder outside of your Mods folder.
Delete
localthumbcache.package:- Go to your The Sims 4 folder (usually located at
Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4). - Find the file titled
localthumbcache.packageand delete it. - This file can hold onto outdated data from mods and CC, which can lead to conflicts. The game will create a fresh version of this file the next time you launch it.
- Go to your The Sims 4 folder (usually located at
Reload the Game and Test Your Save: Start the game with only my mods installed and see if the problem persists. If it doesn’t, the issue may be with one of your other mods or CC items.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to determine if my mods are truly the culprit or if another mod is causing the problem. This simple process can save a lot of time and help you get back to enjoying your game faster!
Make it a Habit
For the best results, make a habit of clearing the localthumbcache.package file whenever you make changes to your Mods folder.
We’re Here to Help!
If you’re still encountering issues after these steps, please feel free to reach out on our Discord server. The support team and I are always happy to help. Just remember, the more information you have about what’s causing the issue, the easier it is for us to assist you effectively.
Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot—it makes a big difference in keeping your game running smoothly!
Dealing with Corrupted Saves and One-Off Issues
Written by Basemental
Every Simmer knows the thrill of a new patch for The Sims 4. Whether it’s a game-changing expansion or a patch full of bug fixes, the updates are meant to improve gameplay and add new features. However, patches sometimes introduce unexpected issues, particularly when it comes to save files. One of the most frustrating experiences for players is dealing with corrupted saves, especially when it seems like a mod is the culprit.
Why Save Files Get Corrupted
Save files can become corrupted for a number of reasons, and while it’s often rare, it can be extremely disruptive to your game. Some common causes include:
Patching and Game Updates: After a major patch, the game’s base code can change in ways that are incompatible with the existing save data or mods. This can lead to unexpected behaviors or, in the worst cases, complete corruption of the save.
Outdated or Conflicting Mods: If a mod hasn’t been updated to reflect changes made by a patch, it can clash with the game and affect the stability of your save file.
File System Errors: Sometimes, file corruption can occur due to hardware or software glitches, such as power failures, disk errors, or improper game shutdowns.
Third-Party Tools or CC: While mods can enhance gameplay, using too many third-party tools, or having conflicts between mods and custom content (CC), can sometimes introduce instability.
These issues, though infrequent, can affect a tiny number of users in unique and unpredictable ways, leading to a one-off problem that makes it seem like a mod is responsible. In reality, the issue might stem from a combination of the game’s internal mechanics, new patch data, or external conflicts with other mods or custom content.
What Happens When the Save File Is Beyond Help
For the vast majority of players, we can help troubleshoot, offer fixes, and get your mods working smoothly again. However, in some rare cases, the save file may be so severely corrupted that our hands are tied. When this happens, no amount of tweaking or troubleshooting can fully restore the file to a playable state.
In these situations, rolling back to a previous save is usually the best option. It’s always a good idea to keep regular backups of your saves, especially around patch days, to ensure you have a fallback plan if something goes wrong.
Support and Our Approach
The Basemental Mods support team on Discord and I always go out of our way to help every player who encounters issues. We work tirelessly to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of problems, whether it’s a mod conflict, a bug, or a patch-related glitch. However, there are those very rare instances when the issue is just too complex or the save file is too far gone to resolve.
In those unfortunate situations, it’s important to remember that we’re all human and doing our best to help you enjoy your gameplay experience. We absolutely understand the frustration that comes with losing progress, and we genuinely appreciate the patience and kindness that most of you show when you reach out for help. Please know that, while we resolve the majority of issues, we are truly sorry for the few cases where we simply can’t.

Patches and mods can both enhance The Sims 4 experience and introduce complications, but we’re always here to support you to the best of our ability. To avoid the worst-case scenario, we recommend backing up your saves regularly and turning off automatic updates until mods have been tested and verified to work with the latest patch.
