So I just got a phone call from Microsoft about my computer. I didn't wait for the bit where they tell me it has a virus.

Because it is very much a scam.

I likely don't have to tell anybody reading this that Microsoft will never call you. So, a heads-up to my local friends that this one is doing the rounds here.

Firstly, it's my birthday on the 7th, and you're welcome to drop by anytime during the weekend. Just give me a heads up. (Hey, at least I remembered in advance this time.)

Secondly, it looks like I'll be moving to Birmingham, UK. More news on that as it develops.

Finally, I've got Google+. So far I like it.

Remember that I offered to draw stuff? Well, I finally got around to that. And as an apology for the long wait, I decided to go full out and do everything in color. I needed the practice.

Each image uses a slightly different coloring/shading technique and I actually spent some time thinking about framing, too. Some of 'em worked better than others but overall I'm quite happy.

One of the many things I've been busy with lately is going about getting a driver's license, as I do not have one of those.

And today I've successfully taken the first hurdle, passing the theory exam and obtaining my theory certificate. Next step: Finding a place to take a practice lesson and get an estimate on how long it'll take until I'm ready for the practical exam.

Danger recognition: 16/25 (13 needed), Traffic law: 37/40 (35 needed).

At least for the time being, I am home again.

After not having access to all of my stuff for a while and then returning, it occurs to me I own a lot of junk and I really should be getting rid of at least some of it.

So, uh, anybody want an AS/400e 9401-150? It's yours if you carry it down the stairs.

LiveJournal has games now?

Well, if it worked for Facebook, I guess..

Edit: Games are made by an outfit called i-Jet and are Flash-based. They dip into your LJ info (your in-game portrait is your LJ icon, for example). Zygna-like model, lots of social hooks and the ability to buy in-game items for real money.

There's this 3D modeling and animation package called messiahStudio made by a company called pmG. It was described by my coworkers as 'slightly odd but very artist-friendly'. (You'll need a separate application to create your meshes, though.)

It has made some slight fame as the tool of choice of one Joeri Christiaen who has made some very amusing shorts with it. (Check the trailer, it's worth it.)

So why am I telling you people about this? Well, they're having a sale. The normal version, full price $500, now for $10 and the pro version, full price $1200, now for $40.

The catch is that you'll only get the discount when enough people take them up on the offer, you'll get your money refunded otherwise. They currently are about half-way towards their goal. So, if you want to get your hands on some professional-level 3D software for really cheap, get out your credit card!

And now, a game I've worked on (Contains spoilers!) has featured in Zero Punctuation.

I'm oddly pleased at this irrefutable proof I have no life to speak of.
