Friend or de-friend at will, and don't feel obligated to add back if I friend you. I'm always open to new friends and usually add back. As a precaution, however, sockpuppets and newly-created accounts will not be added back without some kind of "Hi."

First of all, a big thanks to my two Festividders!! [personal profile] elipie made Classic, my awesomely unexpected Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse vid. And [personal profile] kuwdora made We're All in This Together, my sweet little Flash family vid. I suspected the former but did not have a clue as to the latter. But in any case, THANK YOU! :D I want to squish you both.

I made three Festivids, as I do every year (something in my brain always short-circuits at the thought of a fourth).

Spectrum - DC Trinity - for [personal profile] chaila

Let's Get Mischievous - Lego Marvel Super Heroes Villains - for [personal profile] such_heights

The Girl You Like - Nicki Minaj RPF - for [personal profile] sol_se

Everyone and their grandmother guessed Spectrum which OKAY FINE, but I was surprised that some people IDed the Nicki Minaj vid and no one outside my vidding crew guessed me for Lego Marvel. I totally thought it would go the opposite way! It seems like the "Marvel" part threw people off the latter. Just because I don't stan for the MCU doesn't mean I'm not OBSESSED with other Marvel characters y'all! Plus who can resist tiny plastic supervillains being adorable failboats? And apparently the editing was a tell for Nicki Minaj which, um, wow. I honestly don't think of myself as all that technically-skilled so that was SUPER flattering.

These are probably going to be my last vids for at least the next year. The craziness that is my upcoming fall/winter means I have to skip this year's VVC and will probably have to sit out Festivids 2015. Sadness, but I'm glad to have made a set of vids I'm quite happy with AND to have gotten two adorable vids in return. ♥ ♥ ♥

So I didn't come anywhere near finishing the masterlist but here's one more batch of recs before reveals.

The Spaces in Between [Edge of Tomorrow] - I mean, this vid deserves a shoutout for the Vimeo password alone. But beyond that it's also wonderfully edited and does a great job of switching back and forth between intense action and more quiet and contemplative moments.

Centuries [The Flash] - Villains! Being epic! I've always thought this song needed to be used for a superhero source and this vid does a great job.

All That Remains [Gravity] - Excellent song choice, beautiful visuals, and an non-linear structure that kept the vid fresh.

Nothing But Time [Gravity] - Another Gravity vid, this one with wonderful pacing that creates an almost haunting kind of suspense.

Can't Stop [Romeo + Juliet] - Sharp editing with inspired lyric ties, and as a bonus, excellent use of external footage.

I got TWO gifts this year. And funnily enough, they were for my most expected and least expected fandoms.

We're All in this Together [The Flash (2014)] - I figured I'd get a Flash vid given that it's one of the bigger fandoms to qualify, and I was right. This is a really sweet overview of Team Flash + The Flash Family thus far.

Classic [Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse] - I added this to the bottom of my requests figuring no one would do it. I'm still not over the fact that somebody vidded this and did such a good job. So much fun and the song choice is PERFECT.

They're both great, THANK YOU mystery vidders!

-------------

I also did a first pass through the masterlist, mostly watching stuff from fandoms I know. There were plenty that I liked and I'm sure many more that I'll love as I work my way through the list. But for now, here's what has stood out:

Kinky Neighbors [Batman (1966)] - Hilariously wrong and perfect for the kooky source.

The Runner [The Flash (2014)] - First of two Barry character studies I'll be reccing. This one is super cute and captures the happier parts of his story so well.

The Scientist [The Flash (2014)] - And the second Barry vid. The concept is great, I wouldn't have thought to focus on all the SCIENCE but in retrospect it's like duh, of course that would make for an awesome vid. I'm curious as to whether it might be from the same person as The Runner.

Do What You Wanna Do [The Lego Movie] - Have to give this a shout-out for managing POV assignments in a giant mashup. I know from experience that isn't always easy to do. The choice for Batman is perfection and still makes me giggle.

Through the Deep, Dark Wood [How to Get Away with Murder] - Possibly my favorite vid so far. It focuses on an oft-overlooked (or maybe purposefully avoided?) relationship dynamic, backed by sharp editing with a really cool use of speed changes.

Monster and Everything in the Right Place [Black Swan] - Reccing these together because they're quite different and yet both do a great job of showcasing how the main character cracks under the pressure that (to some extent) she placed on herself.

-------------

As an aside, I made three vids. However I won't be holding a guessing contest because each vid is SO well disguised that it just wouldn't be fair to expect anyone to find them. I'm so considerate. :)

(Also cross-posting on LJ/DW for the first time. Will still mostly hang out on LJ but given that a big chunk of vidding fandom seems to have migrated it wouldn't hurt to actually use my DW account, heh).

Thank you for making me a vid! I enjoy all types of music and vid genres - the biggest thing to me is always that the music is appropriate for the vid concept (and, to some extent, the source). Two caveats I should mention. 1) For comedic source (i.e. my last two requests here), I generally prefer comedic or at least very light-hearted vids. B) I'm not a fan of country but if it works with the vid, you'll probably win me over.

To the requests! There may be a noticeable theme, heh.

Welp I officially fail Festivids seeing as these downloadable versions are over a month late. Apologies to anyone who has been waiting; I had some serious medical issues in early February and have been playing catch-up in real life since.

I managed to be somewhat more sneaky this year?? Maybe??

IDK, I'm just glad I finally got to make the Wonder Woman vid of my heart. Which, in case it wasn't obvious, was an attempt to vid her general mythology rather than any specific universe or storyline. Went back and forth on whether the comic art would be too heavy-handed but it seemed almost mandatory for vidding Wonder Woman the myth or Wonder Woman the icon. I would've loved to include DCAU!Wondy (JLU will always have a special place in my heart) but visually it was a bit too jarring. DCAU!Wondy deserves her own vid (which will happen...someday...maybe).

For that matter, The Natural vid was as much a vid of the book as it was the movie (barring the drastically different ending) and was meant to highlight some of the literary allusions that perhaps came across better in text than on film. I guess the Pacific Rim vid was the only one not really alluding to any other source. But it has giant robots, so really, what more could anyone need?

Thank you for making me a vid! Here is some information about what I like:

General: I tend to be picky about pairings, so if I don't mention it below, it'd probably be safer to avoid it. But gen or ensemble vids are always an option if the specifics below don't grab you!

Music: I'm pretty flexible here, although I really don't care for country or folksy stuff. But anything modern is generally good - pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, dance, whatever. The biggest thing for me is always finding a good match with the tone of the source, so that's really more important than sticking to any specific genres.

On to the requested fandoms!

Scandal (2012) [TV]Collapse )

Futurama [TV]Collapse )

Lizzie McGuire [Movie, TV]Collapse )

Mulan [Movie - SAFETY]Collapse )

The Princess and the Frog (2009) [Movie - SAFETY]Collapse )

ReBoot [TV]Collapse )

The Simpsons [TV]Collapse )

X-Men: The Animated Series (1992) [TV]Collapse )

I hope something in there inspires you! :D
