Bay Area Hackathon 2024: Key Information

Hackathon Duration: July 7, 2024, to Aug 26, 2024

Submission Deadline: May 31, 2024, 11:59 PM (PDT)

Judging Period: June 1-5, 2024

Winners Announced: June 6, 2024

Eligibility

Open to individuals and teams of up to 5 members.

Participants must be at least 13 years old or the age of majority in their country of residence.

Open to residents of any country where participating in hackathons is not prohibited by law.

Both professional developers and hobbyists are welcome, as well as students enrolled in any degree program.

Previous hackathon winners can participate but must present a new project, not an extension of their winning project.

Project and Submission Requirements

Originality: Projects must be started and completed within the hackathon period. Pre-existing projects or significant portions thereof are not eligible.

Relevance: Submissions must align with at least one of the hackathon themes.

Demo Video: A video (max 4 minutes) demonstrating the project and explaining its functionality, impact, and technical aspects.

Code Repository: A link to a public code repository with a comprehensive README.

Documentation: Detailed documentation on the project's purpose, technology stack, setup, and usage instructions.

Team Composition: Individual participants or teams of up to 5 members. Team members' roles and contributions should be clearly stated.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Innovation (25%): Originality of the idea and its potential impact.

Impact (25%): The project's potential for real-world application and the magnitude of its benefits.

Technical Achievement (25%): Complexity, challenges overcome, and the effective use of technology.

Presentation (15%): Clarity and persuasiveness of the demo video and pitch.

Design (10%): User experience and interface design.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprising industry experts, tech entrepreneurs, and academic leaders. The judging panel will evaluate submissions based on the above criteria to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
