Pending Collective: Opportunities for Young Artists at BACKLIT (16-25)

We are The Pending Collective, BACKLIT’s collective for artists aged 16–25.

As emerging artists, our focus is to give a voice to young people whilst making connections and skills to enrich our practices. Based in Nottingham, we work with an accomplished team of artists, curators and professionals to manage projects, organise events, design marketing and deliver workshops to the local community.

The Pending Collective supports the professional development of its members through shadowing and mentoring opportunities. Members take part in fortnightly meetings with BACKLIT staff to plan and deliver events across Nottingham, and can meet with studio artists on-site to learn more about their practices and join artist-led workshops. Connecting with other youth collectives also offers the chance to network and make new friends.

We are not currently recruiting new Pending Collective members. However, we especially welcome interest from people who are Black, Asian, Mixed or of Global Majority heritage, and/or from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
