By default Azemus FS uses Microsoft Software Synthesizer to generate the sound, but if another synthesizer (PCI soundcard wavetable or external hardware device) is available, you can change settings to use it. It is helpful when you want to avoid the latency caused by the software synth.

You can plug MIDI keyboard into your computer to play the synth (Azemus FS is able to recognize dynamic MIDI messages and can manage the note volume according to velocity you play), and also you can connect external sound module to your computer if necessary (hardware synth, drum machine or groove box, for example) to play it with an ordinary computer keyboard.
