I am in the process of writing a life update kind of post and planned on posting that first, but the thing is, I spent a good deal of yesterday and part of today catching up on The Vampire Diaries and felt inspired to picspam. The entire second half the season is awesome. And I maintain it's darn near impossible to watch episode 19 (Miss Mystic Falls) and not climb on the Damon/Elena bandwagon. I may have watched the picspammed sequence, um, several times. I know, I know, I'm such a girl.

I wrote a letter to the editor about the whole Nancy Pelosi calling protesters "an ugly campaign" and "un-American" thing. Because I have rarely felt as insulted by Washington as I did after I read her op-ed piece. I haven't sent it yet, because I predictably got cold feet last night after I wrote it. It's more that I still haven't gotten over the fear of sending something I've written into the great unknown, but I think I'll stop being so cowardly and press send tonight.

I realized after I finished writing it that I had whittle it down to something near 250 words. But I feel that it loses a lot in that version, so this is the un-condensed form.

Under a cut, cause it's really fine if you'd rather not read it.Collapse )

Edited to add: Sent.

The second season of Leverage premieres tonight at 9pm eastern and if you get TNT, you should be watching!

Disclaimer: I was hurrying to try to get this posted before the season two premiere tonight, so the coloring is kinda all over the place and I didn't collect as many quotes as I wanted to. But it was fun anyway. :)

Basic premise: a Robin Hood-esque group of white-collar criminals (lead by a former insurance investigator) band together to take up the causes of the little guy and fight the powerful corrupt. The dialogue is smart and funny, the characters are three-dimensional, and it's so much fun!

Sometimes bad guys are the only good guys you get.Collapse )

I have been feeling particularly Whoish today (goodness know why...), I decided to participate in picspammy's current challenge - "Scenes and Sequences" - with that scene from Doomsday.

It comes with two warnings.
One, if you haven't seen this episode, there are MAJOR spoilers for the end of series two that directly affect nearly everything that comes after. If you think there's any chance you're going to watch Doctor Who and have somehow managed not to find out how series two ends, you probably don't want to click.

Two, if you think you may damage your keyboard with an excessive outpouring of saltwater during your viewing of the picspam, your computer might prefer you didn't proceed.

Without further adieu:

Followed the voice. Across the water. Kept on driving hundreds and hundreds of miles. 'Cause he's calling. Here I am, at last.Collapse )

I wanted to get this posted before the new episode aired tonight, so I didn't have time to get all the quotes and high-quality pictures that I would have liked. But here it is anyway!

Burn Notice is SUCH a good show, and I think only one or two people are my flist are watching it! Jeffrey Donovan kicks butt as "burned" ex-spy Michael Westen. He's like a deadpan super-spy version of MacGyver in Armani. And one of my favorite characters on TV right now. 10pm EST Thursday nights on USA, you guys!

- Who are you?
- I'm Michael Westen. I used to be a spy.

Burn notices are issued by intelligence agencies to discredit or announce the dismissal of agents or sources who are considered to have become unreliable.

Spies make great neighbors; they're polite, they keep the lawn trim, and they never crank up the music at night.Collapse )

Lo and behold, the product of my insomnia!

- NCIS? That anything like CSI?
- Only if you're dyslexic.

Brief introduction: Now in its sixth season on CBS, NCIS is a spin-off of JAG and is the rare spin-off show that surpasses its predecessor in every way. NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the branch of the government that investigates all major criminal activity which involves the US Navy or Marine Corps.

Wikipedia describes it as "being distinguished by its comedy elements, ensemble acting and character-driven plots." I find this so accurate that I'm not going to bother paraphrasing. I am not usually a big fan of anything can be even loosely described a "police procedural." Psych and Life on Mars (UK) are probably the only other exceptions I make to that rule. (And maybe Life... I'm becoming fond of that too.) But like just about every other show that I love, the characters are what makes NCIS so good. Their interaction and relationships, their humor and their flaws.

So the picspam begins with character introductions.
Good screencaps of this show are a little more difficult to find than some more popular shows, so I had to resort to more episode promotional stills than I would have liked, but hopefully the quoteage sprinkled in will help make my case.
