AutoFirma is an official desktop application developed by the Government of Spain (Gobierno de España) to create and validate electronic signatures on documents and online forms. It is widely used across Spanish e-government services and by businesses and citizens to securely sign PDFs, XML files, and other document types with recognized digital certificates.

Key features:

  • Digital signatures for multiple formats, including PDF (PAdES), XML (XAdES), and binary files (CAdES)
  • Visible and invisible signatures in PDFs, plus co-signing and countersigning
  • Signature validation and integrity checks, with optional timestamping
  • Works with common digital certificates used in Spain, including DNIe and FNMT, as well as .p12/.pfx files and system certificate stores
  • Integration with many Spanish e-government portals via a secure desktop–browser bridge
  • Batch signing to streamline repetitive tasks
  • Cross-platform support for Windows, macOS, and Linux

AutoFirma keeps signing operations on your device, using standard cryptographic methods and trusted certificates. It helps streamline official procedures such as filing forms, approving documents, and signing contracts or e-invoices, while meeting the signature format standards used across the European Union.
