Hi, I was reading through some articles I’d read before about Sherlock and sexism. I saw in your article on “A Scandal in Belgravia” and noticed this comment: “All of which left me thinking, if this is the Sherlock for the 21st century, then why not have a Lestrade as a woman? Or even Watson?” (Or, indeed, I might add, Sherlock Holmes, and my vote is for Archie Panjabi on that one.) So, I was wondering what you thought of the casting of Lucy Liu as Watson in the upcoming CBS series. Any comments?
I think it’s a great idea, but of course whether it works in this specific case depends on the quality of the writing, acting and direction. I haven’t seen any of the episodes, but I gather reaction has been mixed.
That’s funny. I’m owned by similar furry creatures in my home. Happily so, I might add.

How do I have this blog come into my email inbox please?
