Barbara Kolm is President of the Friedrich A. v. Hayek Institute in Vienna, Austria, Founding Director of the Austrian Economics Center, and Vice President of the Österreichische Nationalbank (Austrian Central Bank). A worldwide networker, Kolm is renowned for promoting free market policies. She is a frequent speaker on public policy related issues, especially on deregulation and competition, the future of Europe and Austrian Economics. Barbara Kolm is an Associate Professor of Austrian Economics at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro and serves on several advisory boards. She is a Member of the Mont Pèlerin Society. Britt Schier is the Head of Office at the Austrian Economics Center. In her position, she is responsible for public relations, event management, administration, Human Resources, and the overall management of the AEC’s day-to-day affairs. She is also the Head of Office at the Hayek Institute.

Stefan Baumgartner
Research Fellow
Stefan Baumgartner studied at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck and has an interdisciplinary background in political science, sociology, and technology. He combines analytical rigor with technical understanding and a strong sense of social contexts. He has been working as a researcher at the institute since Easter 2025.

Research Fellow
Stephan Unger holds a professorship in Finance at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, USA. With extensive experience in academia and the financial sector, Stephan has worked as a stock broker, corporate FX/Fixed Income structurer, and director of an algorithmic FX-trading company. He has held academic positions at Vienna University of Economics and Business, the University of Vienna, Saint Anselm College, New England College, and Endicott College, focusing on finance and macroeconomics.
