  1. All students are welcome!

    1. We accept participants from any location, gender, and background as long as they are currently a student or have graduated within the past year.
    2. Currently, we only accept those who are above the legal age of majority in their country of residence.
  2. Teams can consist of up to four members.

    1. While you could take on a project solo, we recommend teaming up for the most productive hackathon experience.
    2. We will not allow any teams consisting of over four members to participate.
  3. All members of a team must be in the same category (i.e. Beginner or Intermediate).

    1. Those who qualify for the Beginner category can opt into the Intermediate category. However, those in the Intermediate category cannot switch to the Beginner category.
    2. If one team member is Intermediate and the rest are Beginners, the entire team will be considered Intermediate.
  4. Those who have one or two years of experience and minimal programming knowledge qualify for the Beginner category.

    1. Eligibility for the Beginner category is determined based on the participant’s registration form. Those who are eligible for the Beginner category will be notified during check-in.
    2. If you are not in a computer science or related major, these criteria may be more lenient.
    3. This category was created to give college freshmen and sophomore students with little software development experience to compete against a level playing field.
  5. No coding may start before the official hacking start time (2/11/23 at 1:00 PM).

    1. If you violate this rule, your project will be disqualified.
  6. All code must be created at the hackathon.

    1. You cannot use code or software that you have previously developed.
    2. You are allowed to use publicly developed and openly licensed APIs and SDKs for your project.
      1. APIs and SDKs under a trial license may also be used.
    3. We want to keep the hackathon fair for all participants.
  7. You can use anything to craft your project.

    1. Any software development tools, IDEs, programming languages, etc. may be used for the hackathon.
  8. You can only submit one project per team.

    1. Project submission must be submitted by the Project Submission Deadline (2/12/23 at 11:00 am).
    2. The hard deadline for project submissions is one hour after the Project Submission Deadline (2/12/23 at 12:00pm).
  9. Teams and participants must follow the MLH Code of Conduct.

    1. If a team submits a project that violates the Code of Conduct, the project will be disqualified.
