All students are welcome!
- We accept participants from any location, gender, and background as long as they are currently a student or have graduated within the past year.
- Currently, we only accept those who are above the legal age of majority in their country of residence.
-
Teams can consist of up to four members.
- While you could take on a project solo, we recommend teaming up for the most productive hackathon experience.
- We will not allow any teams consisting of over four members to participate.
-
All members of a team must be in the same category (i.e. Beginner or Intermediate).
- Those who qualify for the Beginner category can opt into the Intermediate category. However, those in the Intermediate category cannot switch to the Beginner category.
- If one team member is Intermediate and the rest are Beginners, the entire team will be considered Intermediate.
-
Those who have one or two years of experience and minimal programming knowledge qualify for the Beginner category.
- Eligibility for the Beginner category is determined based on the participant’s registration form. Those who are eligible for the Beginner category will be notified during check-in.
- If you are not in a computer science or related major, these criteria may be more lenient.
- This category was created to give college freshmen and sophomore students with little software development experience to compete against a level playing field.
-
No coding may start before the official hacking start time (2/11/23 at 1:00 PM).
- If you violate this rule, your project will be disqualified.
-
All code must be created at the hackathon.
- You cannot use code or software that you have previously developed.
- You are allowed to use publicly developed and openly licensed APIs and SDKs for your project.
- APIs and SDKs under a trial license may also be used.
- We want to keep the hackathon fair for all participants.
-
You can use anything to craft your project.
- Any software development tools, IDEs, programming languages, etc. may be used for the hackathon.
-
You can only submit one project per team.
- Project submission must be submitted by the Project Submission Deadline (2/12/23 at 11:00 am).
- The hard deadline for project submissions is one hour after the Project Submission Deadline (2/12/23 at 12:00pm).
-
Teams and participants must follow the MLH Code of Conduct.
-
If a team submits a project that violates the Code of Conduct, the project will be disqualified.
-
If a participant violates the Code of Conduct in person or over Discord, the participant will be disqualified and asked to leave.
