The Annals of Tropical Research (Ann. Trop. Res. | ATR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal established in 1979 by Visayas State University, Philippines. The journal operates under an open-access model, is indexed in DOAJ, and is a BOAI signatory. It is included in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) journal list by the Australian Research Council (Journal ID: 5237) and is recognized by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). ATR is indexed in major international indexing and abstracting services, including Scopus, CABI, EBSCO, and FAO AGRIS. Published semi-annually (June and December), ATR is fully funded by VSU and does not charge article processing or publication fees. The journal disseminates scientific findings on tropical upland, lowland, and marine ecosystems and their communities, providing a platform for local and international scholars to advance knowledge and sustainable development in the tropics.

Since its inception in 1979 (Vol. 1, Issue 1), ATR has undergone various stages of development and faced numerous challenges, ultimately shaping the journal into what it is today. The Visayas State University is committed to enhancing the performance and quality of the journal, aligning it with international standards, and keeping the ATR current with the ever-evolving demands for relevance and sustainability.
