So out of boredom, because I didn't want to continue to study for my test, I checked up this website
http://www.beautyhype.com/post/031608-fake-mac-cosmetics-alert.php .
I have used fake stuff and real stuff, I have used expensive products like NARS, MAC, CLINIQUE, and LANCOME, and the cheap stuff at stores like Cover Girl, RIMMEL, and MAX Factor.
Depending on the shade from ALL of names, I have had a reaction. Does this mean that the fake is worse than the real? Or vice versa? NO! What it means is that I have a negative chemical reaction to the chemicals used in the products, for me its blushes. So it didn't make a difference at all whether it was real or fake, I still got a reaction.
Look at the ingredients (if you can, hell most NARS and MAC do not list ALL the ingredients or the percentage they use) and see what the similarities are to the things you are having a reaction to, then get stuff that doesn't have it.
Or if you are really really concerned, get organic products, do a ton of research and get those, you are less likely to have a reaction to that stuff.
I'm not a make-up artist, nor do I work for any of these companies, and I'm not a MAC lover, I'm just a Make-up lover in general. The make-up artists that are knowingly using fake products, that's pretty bad, do you know all the ingredients in the product? Do you know it's ok to use? And yes all make-up is unhealthy for you, some is just a lot worse, and more often than not knockoffs or fakes will be worse than the real deal. *shrug* This is my response to all the posts written.
It cracks me up, mostly that people are having such a SHOCKING fit over how cheap the fake stuff is and the fact that it's fake. They are also saying that every time they had a reaction it HAD TO BE FAKE!! That's bull, I have had reactions to legit cosmetics that I got at counters, so explain that please? It's simply a chemical reaction, that's bout it.
Also on that note I was checking the posts people wrote, someone wrote one about Macau in China, that you can get things for cheaper, and had mentioned Coach bags. For the hell of it I went to check out the china site against the american (not one for canada) and was absolutely floored when I saw the exact same bag was
300 DOLLARS MORE!!!! WTF?! Are these people nuts? I checked the japan site as well just to check, and it was the same thing, almost a good 350 more expensive than the american site! It was pretty shocking, but I suppose I shouldn't be completely surprised. Asia is pretty obsessed with brand names, and companies can charge easily double to triple the price, and they will still pay it.
Now what I find funny about this is that this leads people to think that what you get in NA is a knockoff. A friend of mine actually told me that my bag was fake because I only paid 200 for my coach bag, and she paid 400 for hers, I showed her the receipt and brought her to the coach store here. She was shocked and pissed that China charges double for the exact same bag. I wonder why they do this.
Apple doesn't charge too much more, bout 100-200 give or take from it's american store to it's japanese store. Now NARS which is based in Europe is just insane, for their serum in Canada it costs 87 dollars, the same serum in the US costs 62 dollars, and there was NEVER a time where the difference in the dollar was that extreme. The price for the Canadian one is based on a straight conversion from the Euro to Canadian dollars, but the US one is the just 10 dollars more than the price of the Euro, i.e. The European price is 52, the US is 62, and the conversion from 52 Euro to Canadian dollars is 87. That's plain nuts no matter how you look at it.
My mom calls that market price, what the price the consumer is willing to pay. Here, we will not pay 500 for a small-med. size coach bag, but they will in China and Japan, so that's the price. Like the states will not pay 100 after taxes for NARS serum, we will in Canada so that's why it's that price. It's not completely fair, but that's the way the market decided.
Ughh! History is starting to filter in my everyday life. . . it's scary xD
On the upside, I finally get to see Dir en Grey in August, so I'm pleased xD
