Employee and Family Assistance Program
The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is included in your ASEBP benefits, and accessible through a third-party provider, GreenShield, at no cost to you.
ASEBP covered members and their dependents each have access to free yearly hours to see a naturopath, registered dietician, financial advisor, lawyer, life coach, registered nurse, pediatric and adult sleep consultant, fitness instructor, career coach, psychologist, and life transition coach among many other health practitioners. Your free hours reset every year on January 1.
Get started
Create a GreenShield+ account to start using your EFAP benefits. To register, you will need:
- Your ASEBP ID number. Find it on MyASEBP.
- Your employer’s organization code. If you are unsure of your code, call 1-877-431-4786 or email benefits@asebp.ca and a benefit specialist will send it to you.
- Use your personal email address to set up your account so you can access your EFAP anytime, anywhere.

Using your EFAP
Mental Health Services
Receive confidential in-person or virtual therapy and mental health support. Match with a counsellor best suited for your needs. Yearly service allotments are noted next to each service.
Once all counselling hours are used, you can continue with your chosen mental health professional at a rate lower than the national average and submit your receipts to ASEBP for reimbursement through the psychology benefit under your EHC benefits.
Crisis support is available through GreenShield (24/7/365) toll-free, by calling 1-833-707-4747.

Book a free 15-minute consultation to ensure you find the right practitioner for your needs. If you are struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, burnout, or looking for support with navigating a difficult situation, access one-on-one counselling through your EFAP. Get started.
01Couples and Family CounsellingFour free hours per year
Therapists can support you and your family with navigating conflict, communication challenges, major life events, and more. Get started.

02Children's Mental HealthBy request
In partnership with Mightier, your EFAP offers an at-home, play-based children’s mental health program that uses wearable technology to help children (4 to 14 year olds) explore emotions and develop self-regulation skills. Specifically helpful for children who struggle with irritability, frustration, and emotional reactivity, as well as children with diagnoses such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).

03Indigenous Mental HealthBy request
In partnership with Noojimo, your EFAP offers culturally safe, virtual counselling services to families with at least one member who self-identifies as Indigenous. Through this service you can access individual counselling, group and family counselling, and mental wellness education.
Once you have registered for your account, submit a form on the Noojimo site to book your first counselling appointment. Get started.
04First Step ProgramAs needed
This program offers a series of e-learning modules designed to provide a non-clinical approach to raising awareness and building mental health resiliency through actionable strategies. This program is best suited for people experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression and anxiety. Get started.
05Digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) As needed
If you are experiencing symptoms of mild to moderate depression or anxiety, you can take control of your mental health through the Digital CBT program using interactive learning modules, tools, and coaching to help you develop positive coping strategies and reduce life-disrupting symptoms without the wait. Total Health and Life Services
Get access to more than 100 types of practitioners to help you navigate life’s challenges and achieve your personal goals. Yearly allotments are noted next to each service.
Once you have used the yearly allotment for a service, you can continue with your chosen provider and submit your receipts to ASEBP for reimbursement through your Health Spending Account (HSA), your Wellness Spending Account (WSA), or your EHC benefits, if applicable. As part of the program, registered dietitians will create tailored nutrition plans that meet an individual’s goals and needs supported by the RxFood app’s AI features. This enhancement provides a holistic approach to tailored nutrition, supporting individuals at every stage of life. Get started.

Big changes in life (think: becoming a parent or planning to retire) often come with big emotions. If you find yourself wondering if you are making the right choice, or if you are in the earlier stages of planning and want some guidance, this service can help.
Information and support are available for those planning a family or who need parenting advice or support with childcare, eldercare, or teens. This service also includes support through marriage, divorce, and becoming an empty nester. Get started.

Receive support from registered nurses, nutritionists, naturopaths, pharmacists, fitness and yoga instructors, Indigenous knowledge keepers, chronic disease and cancer coaches, lactation consultants, pediatric and adult sleep coaches, doulas, parenting coaches, plus access to focused programs for nicotine and alcohol addiction. Connect with a career consultant or counsellor to receive guidance and practical strategies for starting and furthering your career, resume review and building, interview preparation, navigating workplace conflict or relationships, changing career direction, and more. Get started.
04Financial AdviceUnlimited
Get unlimited access to professional financial advisors offering solutions-focused advice on topics like budgeting, investing, retirement planning, credit management, mortgage planning, taxes, financial goal setting, and paying off debt. Get started.
05Legal AdviceUnlimited
Get unlimited legal information from experienced attorneys in your area, who can provide advice on things like real estate or property law, family law, criminal issues, wills, estate planning, divorce law, and more.
