ASCOM Conform Universal, developed by the ASCOM Initiative (Peter Simpson), is a conformance testing utility for astronomy device drivers. It validates both classic ASCOM (COM) drivers and modern ASCOM Alpaca devices to ensure they implement required and optional interfaces correctly and behave consistently across applications.
Built for driver authors, device manufacturers, and advanced users, Conform Universal exercises core ASCOM device classes—such as telescope mounts, focusers, filter wheels, cameras, domes, rotators, switches, and environmental sensors—verifying property values, method responses, error handling, and state transitions. It helps uncover edge cases and specification deviations that can cause interoperability issues.
