Our Pilot Installation on the Kool Husky

The first-ever installation of our PALS (Passive Air Lubrication System) was successfully completed in October 2024 on CoolCo LNG carrier, Kool Husky. This milestone project was made possible in collaboration with industry leaders including Ecochlor, Argo Navis, Friendship Systems, ERMA FIRST Group, and Yiu Lian Shipyard. At Armada Technologies, we took charge of the engineering design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the innovative air lubrication system.

  • Under 7 Days Installation: The system was installed while the vessel was on the blocks, with the final setup completed while the ship was moored alongside—a testament to our commitment to quick and reliable service.
  • Sustainable Sea Trials: The Kool Husky has already conducted sea trials, providing documentation to meet ISO or ITTC guidance for system performance evaluation.
  • Energy-Efficient Design: Our small-capacity pod pumps deliver precise control with significantly lower power consumption, ensuring operational efficiency across various conditions.

The insights gained during the initial Kool Husky installation will provide guidance for refining and improving future installations, ensuring even greater performance and ease of use of PALS. For example, choosing the small capacity pod pumps was a deliberate decision, as they are highly energy-efficient and allow for precise control of each pod.
