2025 proved being in community together is our power | ARC-Southeast 2025 Healthline Reflections

In 2025, we saw over 5,400 callers – that’s nearly double the number of callers we served last year. The needs of each caller are increasingly complex. The average amount callers could pay out of pocket this year was just $278. This year we needed to connect to more clinics, people, and organizations, because the need has never been greater.

Solidarity in Action: Turn to Mutual Aid and DIY Fundraisers for Abortion Access

Grassroots fundraising and mutual aid have always been at the heart of how we show solidarity and take care of each other in the face of systemic oppression, particularly in the South.   When we talk about grassroots fundraising, we don’t just mean the dollar amount raised. Grassroots fundraising is one of many ways to […]

Radical Love: A Grounding Practice for ARC-Southeast

We say Radical Love not as a slogan, but as a core truth shaped by a decade of showing up for people across the South who are fighting for dignity, survival, and joy in the face of systemic harm. Radical love is the foundation of our work, from funding abortions to offering compassionate logistical support, to how we build relationships with staff and community members alike.

What Building Southern Power Means to ARC-Southeast

Our ‘Southern Synergy’ value has become ‘Building Southern Power’ — here’s why.      Southern Synergy has been an essential ingredient to our development over the last decade. We embodied this value by building a network of principled collaborations to more fully support our communities. Reflecting on the deep relationship building of the past decade, […]

They illuminate the narratives and lives impacted by abortion bans, and show care through our eyes. In showing the truth of our reproductive realities, data can also paint an important picture.   Data can reveal […]

Outrage and Heartbreak for the Dehumanization of Adriana Smith   ATLANTA, GA — Access Reproductive Care-Southeast (ARC-Southeast) is outraged by the tragic and dehumanizing treatment of Adriana Smith and her family. When Adriana, a 30-year-old Black nurse, sought treatment for severe headaches at Northside Hospital in February, medical staff dismissed her concerns without performing diagnostic […]

Q&A: The Destined Life of RJ Founding Mother, Able Mable Thomas

We made sure that the Black women legislators led this particular issue in the state of Georgia. And when they were going before committees, even though something that was on that subcommittee helped, I basically instructed the Black women to take the lead. “Lead, it’s your issue”, “it’s Black women dying”. Nobody can tell a story, like a Black woman could tell a story. That’s what I’m proud of — we took control of our issue.

Post-Dobbs: Distance To Care FULL REPORT

Our latest research report, titled “Post-Dobbs: Distance to Care”, reveals the stark realities of post-Dobbs abortion access, from skyrocketing travel distances to overwhelming financial and logistical burdens. We analyzed several years of self-reported data from our callers before and after the Dobbs decision, and calculated the changes in the distances our callers traveled and the changes in total abortion costs.

Roe was the bare minimum, not our wildest dream.

By Angel Whaley (ARC-Southeast Co-Executive Director) Those involved in the fight for Reproductive Justice have always known that Roe was the floor, not the ceiling. Despite Roe v. Wade’s privacy protections, obstacles like the Hyde Amendment and state-level regulations such as gestational limits, waiting periods and mandatory counseling delayed or often completely prevented access to […]
