Moon Talk Sailor Moon! She's so different from R Sailor Moon. I can't get over it. She doesn't even look like the other Moons from her year, which is bizarre. Even though she's missing so many pieces and will be difficult to complete, I feel lucky to have picked one up!
After her hair dries, she'll be having a spot treatment done to remove a little "freckle" from her face, and once her "odango" are redone with fresh elastic and her tiara and earrings have their gold paint touched up, I'll be sure to do a side-by-side comparison between her and R Moon.
Dammit, lost another auction this morning. (><) So… let's talk about restorations instead!
We've got our girls here who arrived looking something like this. A little dirty, missing outfit pieces, tangled and frizzy hair with rotten rubber bands (ew) and stretched-out, faded elastics. Poor things!
The good news is, things are progressing well!
Chibiusa:

She still does need some work going forward--for one, there's a persistent pink stain on one of her sleeves that I've managed to lighten but not quite remove (MORE, MORE OXICLEAN). And as far as the doll herself goes, one of her previous owners apparently was not a fan of her pink earrings, as they were ripped out and actually tore the vinyl on one side of her head. (Can you see it?) So I've got some replacement pink doll studs in the mail that will hopefully be a close approximation, and I'll see how much I can do about the vinyl tear.
R Moon:

The R series girls aren't really like anything that followed them, which is maybe why I love them so much. They're got these doe-eyed baby faces that, for me, really capture the essence of the first two anime seasons--these young girls, thrust into exceptional circumstances, still just beginning to process it all. Sigh! ♥
Anyway, R Moon was the most complete of my bigger dolls, since her choker doesn't come off without removing her head. So she still has it! Yay! After a good bit of work on her hair, she's looking really nice, so I'm thrilled. The quest for gloves and boots is ongoing. We'll see how long that takes.
S Moon Talk Moon is next, and then my vanity's sink area might actually be clear for a while! I must acknowledge my eternally patient boyfriend, who definitely deserves cookies or something for putting up with the ever-growing piles of bobby pins and tiny elastics.

I suppose I should go ahead and christen this journal with its first day-to-day post! The first daily post is always the hardest, I think. A new journal to me is an unmarred surface, like a blank piece of paper. But then again, what expectations are there but my own? I think it'll be alright. (^^)
Hi! I'm Bijou, and I play with toys. (☆^ー^☆)
On that note, let's talk about them! A couple of weeks ago, I received a box from Japan with a whole bundle of tiny pretty soldiers.

When last we left our lovely heroines, they were enjoying a relaxing dip…

I've shuffled a few of them over to the sales block, but the remaining Moon girls have been undergoing the Palais Bijou spa treatment, which is… still ongoing… because the steamer I got isn't really good for much except clothes. Sigh. (I'm not 100% confident that it'd even be great at that. I might just return it.)
Dream Pocket Moon is the closest to being done, if only because she was in the best condition when she arrived--her main issue is that her hair was braided when she showed up, and by all appearances it seems like it was probably braided the entire time she was with her previous owner. So she's maybe had braids for 15 years (!!). As such, no amount of boil perms nor direct steam will remove the very slight wave that's left in her hair. Still, she's all cleaned up and looking awfully cute with her shiny fuku and big prismatic wings. Once I can flatten out her ponytails perfectly and get them appropriately styled, I'll be a happy camper. She's incomplete and I do have an MIB Dream Pocket Moon coming home tomorrow (local seller, score!), so I think I'll end up doing something else with her, ultimately. With the moon symbol on her head, I'm thinking a Princess Serenity Dream Pocket might be really cute.
European Moon is turning out to be a bit of a problem child for a couple of reasons.
The Bandai Japan girls are all pretty much good to go pending a last round of hair treatment! Chibiusa's earrings were ripped out and need replacing (they tore one of her earlobes! poor thing!), and Talking Moon has some damage to the gold on her tiara and one earring, but those are things I can tackle on down the road after they're all back together. I lost an auction that had the remaining Moon boots I needed (T_T), but I'm still keeping a sharp eye out. I think Talking Moon will be the biggest hassle, since she's the rarest of the bunch and most of her counterparts are probably still in boxes. I accept that I might never complete her outfit as it was originally packaged.
I'm excited to pick up my boxed Dream Pocket Moon tomorrow--meeting the MIB version of one of my long-time dream dolls will be so surreal! (´;ω;`)

European Moon is turning out to be a bit of a problem child for a couple of reasons.
- Hair. European Moon's hair is completely of a different fiber than the Japanese girls. Bandai Japan appears to use a pretty typical shiny, thick saran, which is familiar to most people who have handled recent issue rooted vinyl dolls. The European dolls, on the other hand, use a lighter, finer fiber, possibly kanekalon, which is fluffy and looks pretty in the box but delicate enough that it frizzes and tangles the second you so much as LOOK at it. (><) It's also suitably sponge-like and soaks up stains infuriatingly well--there are marks on the strands that I'm not sure will come off with any duration of chemical treatment. At this point, I think I'll honestly be relieved if I have to reroot her, since I can buy good-quality saran and skip this drama on down the line!
- Body. The different bodies of the European dolls also have different vinyl, and it's apparently a dyed vinyl, not premixed. If there are stains on the body, attempting to remove them with peroxide or other chemical means will bleach the skin. This body has a lot of stains, so I'll just be replacing it. (I wanted an Obitsu girl, anyway, so that's fine with me!)

Sailor Moon World 12" Venus & Mercury - More lot merch! These two were clearly not collector-owned, but their outfits are surprisingly intact considering their apparent history! Both are missing their earrings and chokers, and Venus is missing her hair bow and has the wrong shoes. They haven't been cleaned yet. $30 each

Sailor Moon R Sailor Moon UFO Catcher Plush - I got this plush from a lot, and I actually already have the same one! She is cute but could use a bath. $10
Sailor Moon World Super Sailor Moon Doll - She has a different face than all of my other 6-inch Moons, so she looks a little bit like the odd one out, poor thing! Her choker is missing, but the rest of her ensemble, including her hair accessories and rod, is complete. Her hair is a little messy. $30
Sailor Moon R Twist-Waist Figures - These girls came as part of a boxed set of figures, and they're somewhat unusual, perhaps, if not all that nice. A few paint chips don't detract from the overall effect much, as they are not particularly detailed and many areas were just not painted at all (the backs of their sailor collars are white). Perhaps this set was intended for smaller children? $4 each, $10 for all

Sailor Moon R Excellent Model Sailor Moon (As-Is) - I picked up this girl in a lot of well-loved merch, and she could definitely use a little TLC! She is deboxed and missing almost everything, including her ponytails, which must have been very impressive things when she had them because she is huge. As such, she's a little more project than I feel like I'm properly able to devote time to right now, but perhaps an enterprising soul would like to take a shot at rehabilitating her? A few body parts have paint dings, and there are some colored marks on a few lighter parts of her body and fuku, ostensibly from rubbing up against dark areas such as the skirt while in storage. (Photos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) I haven't attempted to clean her, but I suspect most if not all of the colored marks will come off. Also, as you may have noticed, she's bowing a bit to one side. Her body is hollow, so a good hot-water soak and some sustained light pressure should straighten her right out! TAKING OFFERS

Various Sailor Moon Gashapon - I purchased a large lot of dead-stock gashapon quite a few years ago and have finally gotten around to sorting through the lot of them, so I'm ready to go ahead and unload what's left over! Unless otherwise noted, all capsules are intact with all original parts, and most of them are sealed with their original factory tape (which is quite aged on some of the '90s ones). Here's a list of what I have--please feel free to make me an offer for the one(s) you want!

Sailor Moon 1-3 + Sailor V 2 English Reprint Manga - I'm pretty sure I only read each of these once or twice, so they're in excellent condition with tight spines. I had Sailor V 1 somewhere, but I can't find it right now. I'll keep looking! $4 each, $14 for all
PGSM Mini Collection Usagi's Room Set - Just the set from the Toys-R-Us exclusive! If you have the loose Usagi doll and want to complete your set, this might be a good opportunity. Everything's there, albeit somewhat jumbled in the box. NO DOLL OR LUNA FIGURE. HOLD
Chibiusa + Hotaru + Artemis HGIF Gashapon - I originally got these two on a visit to Japan, and I think Artemis came with them (I'm not sure--I bought a capsule whenever I passed a machine). They're in good shape, although Chibiusa is missing her bottle. HOLD
Sailor Moon R Artemis Figure Gashapon - One of my stash of older gashapon that I'm still sorting through--I got a lot of the cats, somehow. Very cute figure, about on par in size with the Sailor Cute figure line. His head twists from side to side. $2

Irwin Sailor Locket - I've got a couple of these in their boxes, but I think I'd like to hold onto one just because it's one of my very first SM toys! All of my Irwin toys reached store shelves with dinged boxes, and this locket is no exception. Otherwise, it's unopened and has no sun damage whatsoever that I can detect. HOLD
Irwin 6" Adventure Dolls - All of the dolls pictured (full set plus extra Moon and Mercury), with varying degrees of dinged boxes. I purchased these direct from stores in the '90s, and they were damaged on the shelves. All boxes have their original factory seals. $5 each for Moon + Mercury, HOLD on Beryl, all others SOLD

Sailor Mercury R Plush Slippers - I love these slippers! I bought a small lot just for the Moon slippers, which don't even fit but are cute enough that I don't particularly care. They're adult-sized but on the smaller end, so they'd probably be a good fit for a US women's size 6-7 foot. (I'm a 7.5 and my heels hang off just a tad.) The Mercury slippers are in the best condition of the bunch, having no visible damages or missing pieces. No tags. $30
Sailor Venus R Plush Slippers - See above! Same sizing, but Venus has seen slightly harder times--she's missing one tiara jewel, and her eyes, weirdly enough, are dotted with what look like mildew spots. I suspect the slippers were just stored in a humid environment, and the stains should clean up easily with a little care. $20

Sailor Moon S Uranus + Pluto Figures - From the Banpresto Sailor Moon S Toro Toro Figure Set. Their stands are included, one still with its original Toei sticker, one without. First buyer gets their pick! $12 each
Eternal Sailor Moon Dream Pocket - Still available! See below for complete info!
Sailor Moon R Bishoujo Senshi na Party Dress - Mint in box, which has only very slight shelf wear. $13
Sailor Moon R Chibiusa Doll - I still desperately want a Chibiusa doll, but I'm not sure which one yet, so it might be time to send this one on down the road of life. She's been clean and restored since I received her, with new elastics for her ponytails and odango. As with most Chibiusa dolls, her odango and hair have yellowed a bit with age. She's also missing her earrings, and apparently one of them was ripped out a bit violently, as there's a small tear (less than 1/2 cm) on her left ear. HOLD
Sailor Moon S Moon Talk Sailor Moon Doll - My extremely cool talking S Moon! As far as I can tell, she's just slightly rarer than her SuperS counterpart. Of course, mine is unboxed, but she works, and she's very cute! Her tiara and earrings have some paint rubs--Gundam Markers in Gundam Gold are a very good paint match, if you'd like to try and touch them up. The text has rubbed off of the clear sticker on her back. And, of course, she's missing her gloves, boots, and panties. Otherwise, she's been cleaned and restored, and she looks great! Her ponytail elastics have been replaced, but you'll probably want to swap out the old elastics on her odango--I'll leave them in, in case you'd like to keep them for color matching. $40
European Sailor Moon Doll (As-Is) - I got this doll as part of a lot, and she's not in great shape--she has stains in her hair and body that can't be removed (attempting to do so will bleach out her skin or hair). I did manage to detangle her hair, which took days, but I simply can't fix it beyond that. I had intentions of rerooting her and replacing her body in order to make a nice custom doll, but I've just completed a move and won't have the time for a while! She has her earrings but is otherwise completely nude. $8

Eternal Sailor Moon Dream Pocket - After many years of wanting, I've finally obtained my long-time wish of a complete Eternal Sailor Moon Dream Pocket, so I'm looking to find a new home for my extra girl! She's incomplete but in good condition and very, very cute. You'll be receiving only the doll in the middle--the doll to the right is just for comparison and not for sale! She's been fully cleaned, her fuku has been washed and steamed, and her hair was unbraided, treated, and restyled with new clear elastics. Her "odango" were missing when she arrived, so I'll include a card or two of similar red buttons (not pictured) if you'd like to replace them yourself. She comes as pictured with fuku, wings, panties, boots, and her original pouch. One of her boots has a small cut in the vinyl (circled), as if box cutters were taken to it--she came to me this way. I'd really love to trade her for another Usagi/Moon doll, but I'll consider cash offers. Taking offers!
