‘Nathan Burgoine is a tall queer writer of (mostly) shorter queer fictions. His stories live somewhere in the Venn of Romance, YA, and Spec-Fic—but always queer. He grew up a reader and studied literature in university while making a living as a bookseller. His debut novel, Light, was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award and his debut YA Novel Exit Plans for Teenage Freaks was a Prix Aurora Award finalist.

A cat lover, ‘Nathan managed to fall in love and marry Daniel, who is a confirmed dog person. Their ongoing “cat or dog?” détente ended with the rescue of a huskies. They live in Ottawa, Canada, where socialized health care and gay marriage have yet to cause the sky to cave in.

All of ‘Nathan’s short stories, novellas, his collection, and his novels are available wherever quality LGBT fiction is found—always check Indiebound for your local brick and mortar, if you can.

Social Media

‘Nathan is active online at Bluesky.

He doesn’t have a newsletter, but if you subscribe to this blog, his (rare) updates can end up in your in-box, if you’d like. It’s the best way to find out about new titles, any sales, and upcoming events—and also very nerdy thoughts about gaming.

AI Statement

To be utterly clear: My opinion on AI is best declared: Fuck AI. No AI art of any kind (yes, including cover art), no AI “idea sessions” or any other uses of via ChatGPT or other LLMs. LLMs and so-called AI are plagiarism theftware and I want no part of it, will use no part of it, and will not take part in projects that do either.

  1. I would really like to see more novels in the “Triad” series. As an Ottawa resident, I love the aspect that the stories unfold in my “backyard”. I like that they are just a little bit sexy but the novels don’t let that get in the way of a good mystery.
