Nostalgic, very bitchy... it's funny how similar those two are.

I was just thinking of LJ yesterday, and how social media has changed. Not just in its mediums, but the wank and bullshit that goes with. (Remember that weirdo Stacy I used to call out for her misogyny in the Criminal Minds fandom? That came up, and man, she was woman-hating nutter, and I doubt that's changed; a part of me really hopes she's crushed over all the CM news lately. [Do people still watch it?]) Then we talked about the fake deaths (there was a community for that!) and lipgloss, and the fact people used to like Cassie Claire, and that Cleo's M15M were fantastic.

But I DO miss LJ. (And ohgod, JF. Fandom Wank, please come back. The Way Back Machine isn't as fun.) And as I'm cranky today and just over the bullshit of stupid people, I missed the anon hate memes, lol. (Like I said I now just gossip with friends while NOT being anon, like a reasonable adult.) That it's an election year isn't helping. (I really am trying to be an adult, but if you like Trump, please fuck off somewhere not near me.)

Then another friend had a better point (opposite of my "GFDI I HATE YOU AND AM GOING TO TELL YOU WHY YOU'RE A MORON" point): sometimes, one just needs to rant, no matter what the subject, without inviting pity, remarks, comments, or anything.

So taking the hate out of it (like a semi-reasonable adult), this is now the "rant-a-thon" post. Anon, if you want, rant away about the things/people bothering you. (Note: racism, sexism, hatred, and willful ignorance will be deleted, because if you're a Deplorable, why are you even here?) as will comments with personal information, including names.

Going to keep this post up for the foreseeable future; it'll probably take a while for it to even be seen, lol.

I rather hemmed and hawed a little over posting this poll, because it IS incredibly invasive and I realize it may make people uncomfortable (apparently not everyone is like me and “YAY SEX!” and “YAY LET’S TALK ABOUT SEX!”)

But that’s part of the issue I was arguing with someone about in class: sex shame.

It is not, as I mentioned in the poll, for science class; rather, it’s for a culture and history class. Sexuality throughout the ages has changed, been fluid – to an extent. And the shaming of such in particular is interesting to me, and I DO believe that those who identify as women are MUCH more likely to be shamed for having sex/enjoying sex/masturbation than those who identify as men. (It likely is just as much so for those who don’t identify with a set gender, those who are transgender, or gender fluid. I am ignorant as fuck about this, so please verbally yell at me if I’m being an ass).

So, although it may be a small sample study, I’m curious, and asking that you answer any questions you’re comfortable with, please. The answers will NOT be shared/posted to my class or anywhere else, and cannot be seen except by the replier, and by me, and I’m just interested in the numbers, not who answered what.

It’s just that even listening to everyday conversations seem to fall in line with the “yay dude bro scored!” and “ugh that slut had sex, whore!” and although I am generally very secure in my sexuality, as well as discussing it, there are times even when talking to friends I pause and wonder if I seem like a “slut” for feeling comfortable enough to discuss sex, or masturbation, or porn. I am also careful about the people I discuss sex with / around, because of the possibility of changing their perception about me. Those things are ingrained into me, and have been taught to me since I was young. And that’s unacceptable to me.

Flogging Molly concert, woo!

I've had a girl crush on Christina Hendricks since Firefly (poison lipstick and burning in hell with people who talk during movies and kissing Nathan Fillion!), but damn, I rediscovered my love for her today.

Work is NOT calming down anytime soon (why would it after two years, a transfer, a raise, and ... well, a lot of other stuff later?) so I've given up on attempting to wait for that. And although I doubt TehCrazies in fandom have disappeared (o y ceeeeling cat? WRRRY HAS U NOT SMITED THEM????) I still miss parts of the fandom. ::grin:: Like Daily!Hotch.

And since it's gonna be Monday shortly (Y OH CEEEEELING CAT...) clearly this is a divine (::snort::) sign for eyecandy. Hey, works for me - all, of course, except the Monday bit.


Am all caught up on Criminal Minds now too, unf. I will say I'm glad I didn't have to suffer through the latter half of S6 in real time (I stopped watching right before the Prentiss arc-of-shit), so I think I liked it better than I would have otherwise. I am, of course, glad the entire team is back together too. OHANA. Am loving S7 thus far too (although 7x02 gave me the bloody WILLIES.) I enjoy my happy place. (And, like the rest of you, we ain't gonna think too hard about how this show is our happy place, kay? Righto.)
