The story of Anyverse begins with Next Limit Technologies, a company born from a deep passion for simulation, creativity, and engineering excellence.
Over two decades, Next Limit built a global reputation for innovation in visual effects, physics-based simulation, and photorealistic rendering, laying the technological and visionary groundwork that would later evolve into Anyverse. What started as a pursuit of groundbreaking digital realism has grown into a mission to power the future of autonomy through synthetic data.
In 1998, university classmates Víctor González and Ignacio Vargas set out on a bold journey from a modest studio in Madrid, with nothing more than two computers and a shared ambition: redefine what simulation technology could achieve.
Their vision brought RealFlow to life, a fluid simulation tool that would change the industry forever. By recreating intricate water and fluid dynamics with unrivaled realism, RealFlow became indispensable in Hollywood, used in iconic films like The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Ice Age, 300, and The Impossible, and countless other major productions
Their groundbreaking work earned them the prestigious Academy Technical Achievement Award in 2008, the first Spanish company in four decades to receive an Oscar-level honor for technical innovation. This accolade recognized their tireless efforts: “endless efforts, dedication and sleepless nights” spent perfecting their craft.
Building on that momentum, we launched Maxwell Render in 2004, a revolutionary, physically accurate renderer that simulates light and materials with stunning precision. Maxwell’s Multilight™ feature and sheer realism quickly caught the eyes of architects, designers, and VFX artists, earning multiple innovation awards along the way.
In 2011, they introduced XFlow CFD, a high-end computational fluid dynamics engine aimed at engineering, aerospace, and automotive industries. Its global impact attracted clients like Airbus, NASA, Ford, and Toyota. In 2016, Dassault Systèmes acquired XFlow, enabling the Anyverse founders to focus even more deeply on advancing 3D and simulation technologies.
The journey didn’t stop there. In 2015, RealFlow introduced its DYVERSO GPU solvers and OpenVDB meshing, delivering up to 10× faster, faster simulations and greater control for artists and engineers working with particles and Hybrido fluid simulations.
The new architecture enabled a higher level of physics-based realism, allowing fluids, rigid bodies, elastics, and granular materials to interact within a unified simulation. Improved collision detection and deeper OpenVDB integration enhanced accuracy in capturing both individual and group behaviors. Complex scenes ran faster, looked better, and behaved more naturally than ever.
Meanwhile, Maxwell continued to evolve, introducing new GPU support, and reinforcing its position as a go-to tool for high-end rendering. New advancements brought unprecedented control and realism, enabling layered meshes, intricate splash and foam effects, and precise force tuning. The result: dramatic quality gains and far greater reliability across complex simulations.
These milestones laid the foundation for something entirely new, the awakening of a synthetic data technology built to power the future: Anyverse.
Then, in 2018, the company embraced a strategic pivot, transforming into Anyverse, dedicated to generating advanced synthetic data for computer vision and physical AI. Today, Anyverse powers a proprietary platform that enables OEMs and suppliers around the world to develop safer, smarter, and regulation-ready autonomous technologies, with a strong focus on in-cabin monitoring systems that enhance passenger safety, comfort, and trust.
