Raising Kids in a Digital World Parenting Workshop

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming parent workshop supported by the Central Committee for Catholic School Councils for DPCDSB:

Raising Kids in a Digital World
April 9, 2026

Doors open at 5:30 PM | Presentation begins at 6:00 PM
Cardinal Leger Catholic Secondary School, 75 Mary Street, Brampton

If you’ve noticed your child struggling with focus, motivation, or constant screen time battles—you’re not alone. What many parents don’t realize is how deeply today’s digital world is shaping behaviour, attention, and wellbeing. Join digital parenting expert Lucy Colangelo for a practical, eye-opening session on what’s really happening—and what you can do about it.

We will be joined by Lucy Colangelo, founder of ShineOn Student Success, who works with schools across Ontario helping families navigate the growing challenges of technology use.

Many families are noticing real changes in their children — shorter attention spans, increased anxiety, difficulty staying motivated, and ongoing struggles around screen time. This session will help make sense of what’s happening and, more importantly, what you can do about it.

During the evening, you will learn:

  • How digital platforms are shaping attention, motivation, and wellbeing
  • Why screen habits can be so difficult for kids to manage on their own
  • Practical strategies to reset technology use at home
  • How parents and schools can work together to better support students

This is an important opportunity to gain insight, tools, and confidence as a parent in today’s digital world.

We encourage all parents and caregivers to attend.
