The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) takes great care in managing personal information in our custody or under our control. We are guided by the Education Act, and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, commonly referred to as MFIPPA
MFIPPA is the law in Ontario that provides the rules and regulations DPCDSB must follow when collecting, using, sharing/disclosing and storing student/parent/guardian information. Under MFIPPA, personal information may be used or shared by the school board:
- For the purpose for which it was collected or for a consistent purpose
- To school board officers or employees who need access to information in the performance of their duties, and in the discharge of DPCDSB authorized functions
- To comply with legislation, a court order or subpoena or to aid in a law enforcement investigation conducted by a law enforcement agency
- To report to the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) regarding child protection matters in accordance with the law, and in compelling circumstances affecting the health or safety of any individual(s).
