I've finished the fifth chapter of my Ginny Weasley is a Slytherin fic. As it is silly long, I am not even going to try to post it here. But here's a link to the new chapter on AO3:

Chapter Five: Fifth Year

And now off to try to wrangle chapter 6 into submission. Ha. (See you next year.)

I had one of those dreams last night, where it's like you've been dropped in the middle of a particularly awesome shippy fanfic, and there are all these feelings, but you have no idea how the plot got there or where it is supposed to go after, but all day you keep getting triggered right back into that story that doesn't exist. I'd be tempted to try to write it down, but it's really more of a feeling than anything. Still, I can't stop thinking about it! I just want to see the next ep, please. Lol.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries continues to delight me. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to watch a show while keeping a constant eye out for any Touching or Looking or one-sided lingering Glances. It reminds me of the good old Sam/Jack days. I must say I haven't squee'd outloud quite this much at a show since then!

***

And while I am here, a fic rec in the Lizzie Bennet Diaries world:

Turning Page Productions Series by cnell (LBD, canon pairings, ensemble cast)
It's a great series of fics (even if the first is a little strange, the rest get more traditionally narrative), following all of the characters into the challenges that are inevitable as they all try to figure out their lives post-series. There is fabulous Lydia, sister bonding, in-character and yet not purely evil antagonists, Lizzie struggling with dating someone like Darcy, Darcy struggling not to slip back into old habits. Charlotte and Gigi and Fitz just continuing to be their awesome selves. Just a really great series!

I finished season 1 last night, so now I am going to predict season two, a la Mark Watches. Please, no spoilers for season 2 in the comments, no matter how small (Even if you liked it or not!). I am a spoilerphobe! Also, assume spoilers for season 1 below.

My predictions (so I can mock myself later):
My predictions, though probably more like a wish list.Collapse )

Okay, that's enough for now. I'll come back when I'm done and mock myself.

For the record, if you haven't watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, you should.

Historical murder mystery. Awesome female characters. People being competent. Interesting minor characters. Outfits! Women not giving a shit about conventional roles! And so much potential for slow burning romance, as well as stupid cute side romances. Just my cup of gin. (Thanks ever to gabolange for directing me in Miss Fisher's direction.)

(How many times can I post in a week after not posting in years? I dunno. Let's see.)

Strange times. Awesome, but strange.

syxp wrote Sam/Jack fic. Angsty and awesome.

I actually finished a rough draft of the next chapter of The Changeling. All 42,500 words of it. Now to hunt down a beta to help me make sense of the doubtlessly hot mess this fic is after two years of poking at it.

Fun times!

Also, I feel like I maybe broke up with TV while I wasn't looking. Haven't even turned it on to watch anything in the last three weeks other than Elementary, which continues to be beautiful and amazing and capable of holding my attention. Everything else, not so much. Been spending a lot more time reading and writing than consuming TV. I am sure this will change again and then I will be annoyed trying to catch back up with all the TV I missed. Such is the fangirl's life.

I am loving the hell out of Mark Watches writing about Leverage and Star Trek TNG. I miss Parker. And I am remembering my simultaneous and confusing girlhood crush on Weasley and Picard at the same time. Lol.

And....I'm out. Hopefully not for six months again this time. Love you, livejournal!

Things I have been reading:

Let Me Grow Young by Vera (Guardians of the Galaxy, gen)
Between heroic deeds and misadventures, Gamora accidentally does the things she missed out on in childhood.
Really really nice Gamora piece. But mostly the friendship and understanding between Gamora and Rocket is just...sublime. So wonderful.

Where the Air is Rarefied by Siria (Captain America: TWS, Darcy/Sam)
When Sam met Darcy.
I am realizing that Darcy is pretty much my little black dress of shippping. But this....oh my. I WANT MORE. Darcy and Sam Wilson. What could be more amazing?

Everybody Eats When They Come to My House by MoreThanSlightly (Captain America: TWS, gen)
“You’ll ruin your dinner,” Sam says, gesturing with Steve with his spatula.
Post-ep around the theme of food. Steve and Sam, Steve and Natasha, Steve and Bucky. Just such a nice look at the ways these people interact.

A Tune Without Words by Niobium (Captain America: TWS, gen)
As he and Sam prepare to begin searching for Bucky, Steve gets various offers of help—some more unexpected than others.
I really like the Steve and Thor friendship in this one. Plus, any Sam Wilson is always a bonus for me.

Sucker Punch by intagible_girl (Captain America: TWS, gen)
Bucky feels like his new life is pretty good, for the most part. Steve and Sam don't hit him, they don't make him kill anyone if he doesn't want to, and they don't treat him like an animal.
God, this fic. Exactly what the title says. Great look into Bucky's point of view, and the casual cruelty he may have come to accept as normal.
