Getting started at Anchor Center is as easy as 1-2-3.
Anchor Center for Blind Children provides early education and intervention services for children birth to five years old who are blind or visually impaired.
Our collaborative team approach to education, therapeutic and family support services ensures lifelong success. Everyone matters in the life of a child.
We recommend children see a pediatric ophthalmologist or neurologist first for an examination. Referrals can be made by pediatric ophthalmologists, neurologists, early intervention specialists, service coordinators or family members. A child with determined vision loss, with or without a diagnosis, should be referred to Anchor Center.
Once a child has been refered to Anchor Center, our team will review their referral form and accompanying medical records. As part of the intake and enrollment process, we will contact the family to schedule a Functional Vision Assessment (FVA). These assessments allow teachers, therapists and family members to learn how the child uses vision. The FVA helps determine if a child will benefit from Anchor Center services.

We put children and families first. Our Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Family Support and Community Outreach programs allow our multidisciplinary Anchor Center team to fully support each child’s needs. We teach the life skills that prepare children for success in their school years and beyond.
We never turn any child away based on an inability to pay tuition.
To help cover the cost of our services, we do charge nominal tuition for some of our programs. However, we never want this to be a deterrent to families receiving services; therefore, we offer a range of discounted rates to families thanks to the generosity of our loyal donors.
