AMTIL creates a monthly report on machine tool import statistics, for the information of its members. Import statistics are a measure of the health and vibrancy of the manufacturing sector in Australia, and the dashboard tracks: the value of imports; the number of machines imported; which state they are delivered to; and which country they come from. The data is based on 45 select Harmonized Tariff Item Statistical Codes (HTISC) and the default screens out prices below a set value.
An HTISC code is a 10-digit code used in Australia to classify imported goods, providing the most detailed breakdown of imported items. The first six digits are based on the internationally recognised Harmonized System (HS), with the remaining four digits added by Australian authorities for specific statistical and customs purposes.
Dashboard
The dashboard features:
- Search by HTISC code, dates ranges, countries and states.
- A custom price filter that enables you to reset price filters.
- Decimal places in the tables.
- A HTISC Code Legend in the “About” tab.
- The ability to extract and save searches.
Members can access the dashboard here, and will also receive a monthly email notification when new data has been added. The information is sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and fed into a purpose-built interface by Data Analysis Australia.
The dashboard is produced exclusively for AMTIL members and password protected, with the password provided in each email notification (monthly to members). Members can contact AMTIL for the password at info@amtil.com.au.
