On 24 March in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamedou Ahmadou Mhaïmid, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, received a delegation from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The delegation was led by Mr. Marcelin Norfels, IFAD’s Country Director for Mauritania.
During the meeting, the minister praised the level of cooperation between Mauritania and the IFAD, describing it as a strategic partner that has supported the country’s progress in agricultural development and food security.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the joint program, emphasizing that these efforts advance agricultural development and food sovereignty, in line with the directives of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, President of the Republic, and his “My Ambition for the Homeland” program.
The IFAD portfolio manager for Mauritania reviewed progress on the cooperation program, noting it now serves as a regional success model. Several technical and financial partners have shown interest in funding the program.
