The Rendezvous is a testament to innovative design and engineering, nestled on top of Blackcomb Mountain. This unique location underwent a significant renovation and expansion in 2015, which was managed using the Construction Management process to meet an ambitious project schedule. This was particularly challenging as construction could only be conducted during the summer months due to the harsh winter conditions at such high altitudes.
The renovation included a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen complete with multiple food preparation stations, allowing for a wide variety of culinary options for guests. The dining area was not only completely revamped but also extended to accommodate more seating. Major upgrades were made to the washrooms, enhancing comfort and convenience for visitors. Additionally, the kids ski club area received a much-needed refresh.
What makes this renovation truly remarkable is its unique design challenge – creating a comfortable space in a remote, mountain-top location. AME rose to the occasion by designing a 100% electric building that does not rely on natural gas. Despite its remote location, the Rendezvous offers all the comforts of a modern establishment. Moreover, the use of mass timber construction adds an element of sustainability to the project, aligning with the growing trend towards green building practices.
