Testimonials

Dr Brian Mills
Founder and Veterinarian

Establishing Allambie Vet with his wife Elaine in 1984, Brian’s philosophy is that patient care is paramount in all decision making. This has been the base supporting Allambie’s quality reputation and the pride the entire team feel to be part of it.

It’s all about getting the right people; vets, nurses and admin staff who share the view that patient care comes first.

These days, Brian has stepped back from consulting at the family owned and operated clinic, but still has a hand in surgery and various procedures.

Outside of the vet clinic, you can always catch Brian enjoying time with his family, playing and watching rugby, sailing or walking his Kelpie (aptly name, The Kelpie).

Dr Jane Vine
Veterinarian

Jane began her time at Allambie Vet in 2008, after graduating from Sydney University with Honours and working in animal practices across the UK and Sydney. She is a highly experienced vet with a wealth of knowledge and over 18 years of experience.

Jane is heavily involved in the education evolution that Allambie Vet is dedicated to, completing continuing education workshops in small animal ultrasonography, endoscopy, advanced echocardiography, oncology, anaesthesia, wound management, diabetes management, surgery for brachycephalic airways and ear diseases as well as chicken medicine.

Jane is passionate about ultrasonography, medicine, and soft tissue surgery. For the past nine months, she has been utilising her off days to explore the Northern Beaches and Lower Northshore with Internal Medicine Specialist Dr Anna Dengate. This has allowed her to develop her skills further and expand her knowledge in ultrasonography and medicine.

She is pursuing additional Feline Medicine education and enhancing her surgical expertise to treat Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome.

During her downtime, Jane spends quality time with her three sons, Oscar, Harry and Charlie, her beautiful hand-reared cat and rescue dog. The Vine Family especially enjoy venturing out on camping holidays when time permits.

Jane is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Dr Liam Ryan
Veterinarian

"I truly understand how important your pet is to your family, and I am committed to providing the same care and attention I give my own dog, Bullseye."

Growing up on a sheep, cattle, and cropping farm in Gulargambone, a small country town north of Dubbo, Liam's love for animals started early. Between the working kelpies, orphaned lambs, and the daily rhythm of a busy rural property, caring for animals wasn't just a job; it was simply a way of life.

After graduating from Charles Sturt University in 2019, Liam spent four years in a busy regional practice in Mudgee — handling everything from late-night calvings and treating horses to complex small animal surgical cases. Those experiences sparked a deep interest in small animal medicine and surgery that continues to drive him today.

A Personal Connection to Care

What you'll notice about Liam from the moment you meet him is how genuinely he listens. He understands that your pet is a member of the family and treats every patient with the same dedication he gives his own dog. Liam and his wife adopted Bullseye, an 11-year-old Kelpie with a single kidney, five years ago. He has a firsthand understanding of the care and attention senior pets need, and a particular soft spot for managing osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal conditions in older patients.

Life Outside the Hospital

Now settled on the Northern Beaches, Liam spends his time away from the clinic hiking or swimming with his wife or watching rugby union from local club games to international tests. He still makes regular trips back to the family farm to lend his parents a hand. When he's home, he's usually experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

Liam brings a warmth, dedication, and country-style care to every consultation. We are so pleased to have him as part of our Allambie Vets team serving the Northern Beaches.

Availability Liam works Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every second Saturday. Book an appointment with Dr. Liam here.

Dr Alex Heggie
Veterinarian

“I truly understand the value our animals have in our families and I believe every pet deserves a thorough, thoughtful diagnosis.”

Dr. Alex joined the Allambie Vets family in June 2026, bringing a specialised focus on diagnostic imaging and internal medicine. Her advanced expertise offers our clients a level of clinical depth that is a wonderful addition to our general practice team.

After graduating with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2016, Alex dedicated years to refining her skills across general practice and leading specialist referral hospitals. Her commitment to getting the "full picture" led her to complete a rigorous 12-month internship, followed by two and a half years as a Diagnostic Imaging Intern at two of Australia's leading specialist referral hospitals.

In 2022, Alex achieved her Membership in Small Animal Radiology (ANZCVS). For our patients, this means having a vet on-site with advanced skills in abdominal ultrasound and internal medicine allowing for faster answers, fewer outside referrals, and non-invasive ways to look after your pet's health.

Whether she's treating a dog or a cat (she loves both equally!), Alex has a gift for clinical problem-solving. She believes in working closely with you to build a treatment plan that feels right for your family, ensuring you feel informed and supported through every step of your pet's care.

Life Beyond the Hospital

When she isn't solving medical mysteries at the clinic, Alex is usually outdoors, hiking or mountain biking through Sydney's bush trails. She's also a fan of great music and movies, spending her weekends with her husband, friends, and family.

At home, she is looked after by Jasper, her beloved cat. Jasper's story is a familiar one to many of us in the veterinary world: he was the clinic cat at Alex's workplace back in 2019. He started coming home with her on weekends for a "holiday" and eventually decided he was never leaving. He is now a very central, much-loved part of her family.

Alex brings a unique blend of curiosity, warmth, and genuine care to every consultation. We are so proud to have her as part of our Allambie Vets team serving the broader Northern Beaches.

Availability Dr. Alex will be available for consultations starting June 2026. Keep an eye on our social media for booking updates!
