Testimonials
I really liked the Virtual Engineering Shadowing program and thought it was a great way to learn. Our mentor was very knowledgeable and always made the sessions interesting, which made it easy to understand even the most difficult topics. She gave us useful information about different areas of engineering and encouraged us to think critically and ask questions. I especially enjoyed the practical parts of the course, like coding and CAD design. Her friendly and encouraging teaching style made a big difference, and the course gave me both knowledge and confidence to explore engineering further.
I really enjoyed the course in the engineer shadowing program. Our mentor had a very thorough teaching style that helped me clarify my understanding of the different engineering fields. The fun activities and tools made it easier to understand and apply what we learned.
our mentor was a really interactive person and she was also really clear and concise with whatever she had to say. she was a really nice person and easy to talk with as well
The 6-week virtual job shadowing program gave me exposure to various engineering fields—from car design and robotics to sustainability and aerodynamics—while helping me gain industry insights and clarity on future career pathways.
The engineering shadowing internship was really helpful. My mentor explained concepts clearly and gave me advice that made me more confident about engineering. Learning how engineering works in real life has made me feel more confident about my future.
The learning experience was great this past 5 weeks! I learnt plenty in terms of engineering skills and fields and used special tools and apps (edge impulse, TinkerCAD) relating to all disciplines (chemical, civil etc.). I want to pursue aerospace engineering in the future.
I learned about a multitude of engineering fields and concepts which i take into account when building personal projects. It also helped me realize that the engineering fields i want to pursue in the future are mechanical and aerospace. I really appreciate the opportunity, and id do it again if i had the chance.
I have honed many skills whilst i was attending the Eng-6 course. Some aspects are incredibly useful for my future: like the CAD and Sensor analysis, alongside the Fluid Dynamics application we used. I also got a chance to be working in a team alongside like-minded peers. Overall, I believe this is a course worth taking for anyone interested in the Engineering industry.
Virtual engineering internship was a very unique experience it was very interesting and I am grateful to be taught by experts from all this fields it's really opened my eyes to wonderful and important lessons i loved the quantum engineering and all the others.

How It Works: Your 4-Week Transformation Journey
Learn how the venture capital industry actually works, from how funds are raised to how checks get written. We map the full journey from idea to IPO, then you pitch your own startup idea to the class and find out if you'd get funded.
Discover how VCs decide what's worth funding. We break down real pitch decks, size up markets using the same frameworks investors use, and run a live roleplay where you sit on both sides of the table, as the VC and the founder.
Understand how investors put a number on a company that may have no revenue, and what happens to everyone's ownership as more money comes in. We build a live cap table in Excel and negotiate a real term sheet, then calculate who wins in each exit scenario.
Learn why most startups fail and why that's fine if you picked one winner. We run a fund simulation, then close with the Investment Committee: you pitch a real startup to the class, defend your valuation, and find out if they'd write the check.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need any prior engineering or technical knowledge to participate?
Absolutely not! This program is designed specifically for beginners with no prior engineering or technical background. We start with the fundamentals – basic engineering concepts, how projects are designed, and how ideas are turned into real-world solutions – and build step by step from there. If your child is curious about engineering and enjoys exploring how things work, they’re ready to begin.
What age range is this program designed for?
The program is optimized for ages 13-18 (typically high school students). The content complexity, pacing, and career discussions are tailored for this developmental stage. Students younger than 13 may find the material challenging, while students 18+ might prefer our more advanced offerings.
What equipment or software do they need?
Just a computer (Mac or Windows) with reliable internet access and a webcam for interaction. All tools we use are free and browser-based, including collaboration platforms for team activities. We’ll send detailed setup instructions one week before the program begins.
What if they miss a session?
We do not encourage students to miss any classes, as live sessions are essential for active participation, real-time discussions, team activities, and interaction with guest speakers. However, in the event of an unavoidable emergency, all sessions are recorded in high quality and made available within 24 hours via the student dashboard, allowing students to review the missed content at their convenience.
Is this actually live instruction or pre-recorded videos?
100% live virtual shadowing every Saturday. Your child will interact directly with instructors, participate in team breakout rooms, collaborate on engineering activities and mini-projects, and ask questions in real time. The live, hands-on format is essential – this is active engineering shadowing, not passive video watching.
How do you accommodate different learning paces?
We keep cohorts small (maximum 20 students) to provide differentiated support. Advanced students receive bonus challenges and deeper questions, while beginners get additional guidance and scaffolding. Our instructors are experienced at meeting students where they are and ensuring everyone progresses confidently.
Will students work individually or in teams?
Both! The program balances individual learning with collaborative team activities. Students work on their own engineering mini-project while also participating in team exercises and group problem-solving sessions. This mirrors how real engineering teams collaborate in professional settings.
Can parents observe the sessions?
Parents are welcome to observe the first 15 minutes of Week 1 to see the format and teaching style. After that, we find students engage more authentically and ask better questions when participating independently. You’ll have full access to session recordings and regular progress updates throughout the program.
Will this actually help with college applications?
Definitely. Students complete an engineering-focused project that demonstrates real analytical and problem-solving skills. The certificate reflects their initiative, hands-on learning, and exposure to practical engineering concepts.
What happens when the internship is over?
Students receive a certificate upon successful completion of the internship. Many go on to use this strong foundation to explore school engineering clubs, participate in STEM or robotics competitions, or take advanced engineering and technology coursework. After the internship, students also have the opportunity to enroll in A Learning Lab’s specialized programs and can avail a complimentary 30-minute consultation with our experts to thoughtfully plan their academic and career journey in engineering and related fields.
What's your refund policy?
Please note that we do not offer refunds under any circumstances. However, in the event of an unavoidable emergency that prevents you from attending the internship, we request that you inform us in advance. In such cases, you may choose to transfer the fee paid toward any other A Learning Lab program of your choice, allowing you to continue your learning journey without losing the value of your enrollment.
