Program Overview

Cybersecurity today is not just a technical skill – it is a critical business function.

This program introduces students to how modern systems are attacked, analysed, and secured. Through guided labs in a controlled virtual environment, participants simulate real-world scenarios – ranging from reconnaissance and vulnerability discovery to incident response and legal compliance.

Each session contributes directly to a capstone cybersecurity audit, ensuring that learning is continuously applied, structured, and outcome-driven.

By the end of the program, students will not only understand how breaches happen – but will be able to evaluate systems, identify risks, and recommend actionable security measures with clarity and confidence.

Learning Journey

Session 1

Threat Landscape & Attack Lifecycle

Understand attacker motivations, real-world breach patterns, and the cybersecurity fundamentals that underpin all defence strategies. Define your capstone audit target.

Session 2

Networks & Traffic Analysis

Analyse how data flows across networks and where vulnerabilities emerge. Conduct packet-level analysis and network scanning using Wireshark and Nmap.

Session 3

Ethical Hacking & Reconnaissance

Apply OSINT techniques and vulnerability scanning methodologies to identify exploitable entry points within a system.

Session 4

Web Application Security

Test applications for critical vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) using Burp Suite. Understand how application-layer attacks compromise systems.

Session 5

System Defence & Security Architecture

Evaluate encryption, identity management, and system hardening practices. Identify structural weaknesses and propose fixes.

Session 6

Incident Response & Crisis Simulation

Respond to a simulated cyber incident. Learn containment, recovery, and decision-making under operational pressure.

Session 7

Cyber Law, Ethics & Risk Governance

Examine global legal frameworks, compliance obligations, and ethical boundaries. Understand the human and regulatory dimensions of cybersecurity.

Session 8

Capstone Presentation

Present a complete cybersecurity audit including vulnerabilities, risk prioritisation, and a remediation roadmap.

Capstone Project: Security Audit

Across the program, participants build a comprehensive Security Audit Report, including:

  • Target profiling & threat analysis
  • Network mapping & scan results
  • Vulnerability assessment (OWASP-aligned)
  • Defensive gap analysis
  • Incident response framework
  • Legal & compliance evaluation
  • Final remediation roadmap

Virtual Lab Environment

All practical work is conducted in a secure, self-contained virtual lab, ensuring safe and realistic experimentation:

  • Pre-configured Kali Linux environment
  • Tools: Nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite (Community Edition)
  • Vulnerable systems: DVWA, Metasploitable
  • Fully sandboxed local setup (no external network risk)
  • One-time setup, no subscriptions required
