Become a Sustaining Member
As with all things, our costs have increased. This has resulted in fewer dollars to meet our traditional operating needs. Your extra support will help. Please consider becoming a Sustaining Member with a donation of $50 or more in addition to any dues.

Ways to Participate
- Find us on Facebook.
- Join the mailing lists and participate in discussions.
- Support your local chapter and go to meetings and events.
- Attend the annual conference. Better yet volunteer or present a session at conference.
- Serve on committees, roundtables, or the executive board.

- AkLA Membership Directory – online directory with contact information for all AkLA members.
Types of Membership
- Student Combined ALA/AkLA – Students who are currently enrolled at a college or university and pursuing library science degrees can join the American Library Association and the Alaska Library Association for one low price of $46. This is a great opportunity for students to try out each organization.
- Personal – Persons employed in a library in Alaska. Personal Membership
- Associate – Volunteers, students, trustees, friends, retired persons and others not actively employed.
- Institutional – Libraries or agencies which have libraries.
- Commercial – Vendors or firms which support libraries.
- Honorary – Lifetime membership awarded by the organization for outstanding service.
- Sustaining – All member types can become sustaining members by adding a donation of $50 or more.
