Mapping the Future: Libraries in Changing Times sets the tone for the
upcoming Alaska Library Association Conference, which will be held in scenic
Sitka, Alaska, from March 26 to 28, 2026.

The conference coincides with the annual herring run in Sitka Sound, allowing us to be surrounded by nature’s bounty as we envision our Alaska libraries thriving in a roiling sea of technological advancements, shifting societal needs, evolving user expectations, and economic and political pressures.

The conference offers library professionals across Alaska opportunities for learning, collaboration, and networking. Attendees can expect:

  • Keynote sessions led by thoughtful voices in the library field.
  • Breakout sessions and workshops covering key trends and best
    practices for Alaska libraries.
  • Opportunities to connect with colleagues and build professional
    relationships.

Clear your calendars for March 26 – 28, 2026 and plan to attend at Harrigan
Centennial Hall
, located on the waterfront right next to the Sitka Public
Library.
