How to get rid of a toxic person

Got a toxic friend who uses you and only talks to you when they want something? Here's a good way to get rid of them: If they ask you for money, give it to them, then ask for them to repay you like they promised. They'll never talk to you again.

About hentai

I thought looking at hentai on Reddit wasn't as bad as looking at pornography, but then I thought about how they are swiping copyrighted art and animation from various places, and I may receive, as just punishment, someone stealing my intellectual property. Also, if someone slipped real pornography in between the cartoon images, it would be a moral snare.

Dementia and racism

I know a man who used to be creative when it came to saying offensive things about minorities and people of color. The things he would say could have made black people outraged if he said it to their face. Just a hint, he was a firm believer in eugenics.
Now that he has dementia, all that creativity is gone. When he sees an African American on TV, he merely yells, "Black black black!" in impotent rage.

The ineffectiveness of entertainment

Entertainment media cannot be used to cure America's social ills. I know someone with an anger problem who watched the "Killer Instinct" episode of the Incredible Hulk and still remained abusive and did not change.
Also, this person is a racist, and when they watched All In the Family, they sided with Archie's racist viewpoints. When the program presented a moral lesson about the racism, he merely became upset at the program.

Google fiber

My remote desktop and internet telephony equipment malfunctions when I try to do a blogger post during work. I think this may have to do with my Google fiber. It's odd, I think everything works on my phone online except blogger. It's like they're saying "Whoa, you're pushing the limits of your free basic internet" and kicking me down.

Wormtongue is real

I think Tolkien had a bipolar relative with dementia. That whole scenario with Wormtongue poisoning King Theoden against everybody, that's like Mania and bipolar attacking the person you love. They didn't hate you before, but now there's this guy whispering in their ear.

Physical trumps digital

I never trust any movie purchased online on a digital storehouse. I prefer DVDs. Today I have proof you shouldn't put all your money into digital video. This customer bought $400 of those through his cable provider, then moved to a city that doesn't have the company. The company refused to give him his digital movies. Now he's in collections and pissed.

Nostalgia

My friend seems to be fixated on the eighties. A lot of other people have nostalgia for those "good old days", but I wouldn't want to go back. At least not to my old life with the poverty, alcoholism and abuse. I want to go back into someone else's life.

Tripod DYI

I had a piece of crap camera tripod with a leg that never stayed at the height I wanted. Kept slipping down. I got some Amazon gift cards from work and bought a green screen, but it was used, so the clamps wouldn't hold the screen. I was better off taping the screen to my wall and ditching the tripod.
Since I'm planning to move, I decided to throw both out, but suddenly discovered that the base of the green screen tripod is excellent. I removed the top of the camera stand, tightened its base clamp onto the top screw of the green screen tripod, and voila, I had a decent camera tripod for once.

Peanut gallery

I feel like my IQ drops a point every time I listen to sports announcers describing every play of the Superbowl like it's something deep and meaningful.

Writers block

Where did the writer's block go? You used to get a writing prompt every time you visited the site when you were about to post something. On the app I don't see anything.

Writing mistake: The Ensemble Cast

As a writer, you learn how to make stories short, and avoid writing stories about large groups of people.
The Walking Dead could have been done in one season. Like any other television show, it is merely a collection of short stories strung together. If it centered on one character instead of an ensemble cast with episodes subdivided into adventures with each person, it would be shorter.
Also, they keep adding people to the storyline. If they'd stopped before adding people like Princess or Negan it would have been shorter. Even when we're not talking about fan favorites, I've seen random characters that pop up and immediately get killed, which maybe bloats the story unnecessarily. The more people you can eliminate from the plot, the easier it is to manage.
Also, the same things keep happening. They meet an enemy army, they fight, they meet a character associated with the enemy and they eventually join the team, and the older characters hate them. Then a new enemy pops up. If they stopped at one big bad army, the show would be shorter.

Christopher Walken

There is a part in the movie Joe Dirt where Christopher Walken says "You're talking to my man all wrong, do it again and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron."
On Facebook in 2021, during Christopher Walken's birthday, someone posted a picture of Christopher Walken as a child. I jokingly changed the quote to "You're talking to my mom all wrong..." etcetera and now, more than a year later, someone reported the post.
Now I am a "multiple offender" because someone just now noticed that post and flagged it. In addition to my Assignments For crazy people post.
I don't think this is an accident. I have a page on blogger, and I mentioned the Christopher Walken post in connection to how I got put in Facebook jail for writing about MASH.
The MASH thing makes no sense, but I understand how people with no sense of humor could report me for the Joe Dirt thing.
As previously stated, the person who reported me "Likes to see homos naked."

Murder doesn't make cents

People who kill for inheritance money are incredibly short sighted. I've seen a lot of true crime stories, and it's just not logical. Say for example if an inheritance is something like $100,000. Okay, that's a big sum, but you can only get it once, and that's it. If you let the person live, they can continue earning money, and maybe even give you some while they're still alive. What's better, a one time amount of $100,000, or $200,000 or even $300,000 spread out over time, and growing because the person is still alive and gaining more income?
Murder for money just doesn't make sense.

Wintery mix

I hate the phrase "Wintery mix." They're so detached from reality in the warm studio that they make up cute things to say about the most horrible of conditions.
The weather man stands in front of the board and basically says, "Yeah, there's a little clatch of ice and sub zero temperatures out there. Just a little get- together of hypothermia and instant loss of physical sensation. A party of frost and wind and negative digits, but you're not invited because you're human and long exposure could lead to pneumonia and amputation of all your fingers."

Distressing

I didn't know exactly why I decided to keep a poinsettia, I guess it was because I'm writing at ET fanfiction, but today God used it as an object lesson.
I ran out of my bipolar meds, and I was about to go into a panic attack.
The mantra from the secular support group I attended was "distressing but not dangerous" but I need something more faith based.
That flower reminds me of the Bible verse about flowers having better clothes than King Solomon. And if God can provide that to my slowly drooping flowers, He can give me the oomph my brain chemistry needs, and eventually meds. "God's got this". If I can keep reminding myself of this, hopefully I can make it through the week without going to the hospital with a stupid panic attack. I can't afford to throw away money on withdrawal symptoms.

Show, not tell

There's some confusion about the phrase "show don't tell." That's why movies like Avatar have clumsy opening narration.
Although Avatar has strong visuals, Cameron made the mistake of having the narrator tell in his dialogue instead of showing.
It's not enough to just have them tell a story with video illustrations. You have to be able to add details that aren't there. To make the person listening add things with their imagination.
They say that in prose, you don't tell of a sunrise, you describe the sun reflecting on the lake. This has to be done not only in books, but in comics when people tell a story, and in movies when they give a speech.

Stolen ideas

I wrote a novel with aliens and setting similar to Avatar. I finished writing it about ten years before it came out. I would claim plagiarism, but when I'm honest with myself, I realize I've just watched too damn many movies. I watch a movie in a theater every week, more on television. And that's been my habit for most my life. Probably half my ideas have come from some entertainment product or another, most notably lord of the rings. And of course I think James Cameron produced all those Aliens movies I liked, so I guess I just suck for not going out there and doing real stuff.
But we shouldn't let James Cameron off the hook. He watches too many movies too.

My first time in Facebook jail

The first time I got banned for thirty days was due to making a post about the Mash tv show. I said that the book was an unfunny offensive story that got made into an unfunny slightly less offensive movie as a veiled Vietnam war protest, then it became a funny TV show.
I don't know why Facebook said that was against their policy. They were unapologetic. In fact, when I tried to respond to the ban, they sent me another threatening message saying I was banned. Not sorry at all, never explaining.
