A Safe Haven for Abused and Neglected Children
Every child deserves a safe place to call home.
At A Kid’s Place, we give children in foster care a chance to heal, stay safely with their siblings, and experience the childhood they’ve always deserved.
A Kid’s Place provides a safe, loving, and nurturing home for children in foster care.
The children who come here have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. They carry the weight of trauma no child should have to bear.
Here, we give them a piece of their childhood back and the freedom to simply be a kid, often for the first time in their lives. Each child receives comprehensive care that meets their physical, emotional, social, educational, and psychological needs.
There is no quick fix. Healing is a lifelong journey, and it begins here.
have been given a second chance since our doors opened
Thousands of children in foster care in the Greater Tampa Bay area are in need of a safe place to call home.
A Kid’s Place fulfills that need. Without us, many of these children would be separated from their siblings or placed in unstable environments. We have the people, the compassion, and the knowledge to step in with a better option for these children, but we can’t do it alone.
Your support helps us deliver the comprehensive, individualized services that each of our children needs and deserves. It means access to therapy, education and medical care, and a chance to experience the simple joys of childhood.
Give today to make an immediate, lasting impact in a child’s life.

AKP Capital Campaign
We’re constructing a new 12,000‑sq‑ft activity center and renovating housing to support young adults aging out of foster care.
The MacKinnon Family Activity Center will ensure every child has access to the opportunities they need to grow, heal and achieve success.
Your gift today will build a better and brighter future for children who need it most.
Take 5 with Steve Kallenbach
From the moment Steve became a part of our AKP family, he’s brought a beautiful blend of heart, talent, and generosity. Whether he’s donating his incredible artwork for our gala, sitting down with our kids to teach them art, or dreaming up new ways to give back, Steve shows up with passion and purpose. His creative spirit is contagious, and his support means the world to us. We’re so grateful for the many ways he shares his gifts — and even more grateful to call him part of the AKP community. We were so glad to sit down with Steve to ask him all about what inspires him along with some more information about his album!
