Using our content

The AI Pedagogy Project is an open access resource designed to be used by educators, administrators, and others interested in learning about, or teaching with, AI. All of the content on our site, including assignments, tutorials, and other materials, is publicly available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

This license allows you to share, adapt, and use our resources freely—but with some important conditions and limitations. This guide explains what our license means, what you can and cannot do with our content, and how to properly attribute our materials.

CC BY-NC-SA 4.0

Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International

What does our license mean?

  • Attribution (BY): You must give appropriate credit to both the specific author of an assignment and the AI Pedagogy Project. See How to Attribute for more information.
  • NonCommercial (NC): You cannot use our content for commercial purposes. This includes selling our material or placing it behind a paywall.

What you can do:

  • Attribute Properly Always credit the AI Pedagogy Project and/or the author(s) of a specific assignment. Use clear, visible attribution near the content or in a prominent location like footnotes, a bibliography, or in your syllabus.
  • Use the Material in Non-Commercial, Educational Settings — You are free to use, remix, and adapt our materials for non-commercial purposes, such as classroom teaching, educational workshops, and public/free educational platforms.
  • Share Freely — You may share, redistribute, and link to our materials on your website, on social media, or through other mediums provided that attribution is given and the content is publicly accessible to others without charge.
  • Adapt for Your Own Use — Feel free to adapt or remix our resources to suit your specific teaching context or project needs, as long as your adapted work is shared under the same license.

  • Don’t Misattribute or Misrepresent — Do not imply that the AI Pedagogy Project, metaLAB, the Berkman Klein Center, or Harvard University endorses your use of our material, unless explicitly authorized to do so in writing.
  • Don’t Modify Without Licensing — If you adapt or remix our material, you cannot relicense it under more restrictive terms. You must maintain the same CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license on your adapted work, allowing others to freely share it as well.
  • Don’t Remove Attribution — Never remove the original attribution when using or modifying our materials. The AI Pedagogy Project or assignment author(s) must always be credited.
