The Copy-Paste Problem

In late 2022, when ChatGPT transformed the way people write, a flood of AI detection tools hit the market. They all shared the same fundamental flaw: they were built around a simple text input box.

This works fine if you are checking a tweet or a short email. But for educators, editors, and students, the real world runs on PDFs. When a professor needed to check a student’s dissertation, they had to open the PDF, manually highlight sections, copy them, paste them into a detector, wait for the result, and then repeat the process 15 times to get through the whole document.

It was a tedious, error-prone workflow that frequently destroyed formatting and stripped away crucial context.

Our Core Values

When engineering this platform, we established three non-negotiable rules that dictate every feature we build:

1. PDF-First Architecture

We didn’t just “add” a file upload button to a text checker. We built a custom document parsing engine that natively reads PDF structures, extracts text while preserving paragraph boundaries, and seamlessly runs OCR on scanned documents. The tool is designed to handle 10,000-word documents as easily as 100-word snippets.

2. Absolute Privacy (Zero Retention)

Academic papers, legal contracts, and business proposals are sensitive. You shouldn’t have to upload your intellectual property to a permanent database just to verify its authenticity. We process files in RAM and delete them the exact millisecond the scan completes. We never use your data to train our models. Period.

3. Accessible to Everyone

Verifying the authenticity of a document shouldn’t require a $20/month subscription or an enterprise contract. We maintain a robust free tier that allows anyone to upload a document, scan it, and see the results instantly—no account required.

A Note on Detection Accuracy

We strive to build the most accurate detection engine possible, constantly updating our algorithms to identify signatures from new models like GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, and Gemini. However, we also believe in being honest about the limitations of AI detection technology.

No tool is 100% accurate. False positives can occur, particularly with highly formal or technical writing. We strongly advocate that our tool—and any AI detector—should be used as an indicator rather than definitive proof of academic misconduct. A high AI probability score should be the start of a conversation, not the end of one.
