AI for Change Hackathon Rules
Eligibility
- Students only
- Ages 13+ only
- No prior experience with AI or hackathons required, but passion and willingness to learn are essential
- Each team can have a maximum of 5 members (Having a team is not required, but is highly recommended)
Registration
- Participants must register on the official hackathon platform provided.
- Registrations as soon as the hackathon begins (5:00 PM on June 28th PST)
Project Scope
Projects must utilize AI to address one of the specified challenge areas: Ocean Conservation, Climate Sustainability, Social Equality, or propose a relevant challenge aligned with the hackathon's theme.
Originality
- Submissions must be original works developed during the hackathon period. Heavy plagiarism will likely result in disqualification.
Submission Requirements
Each team must submit the following on the designated platform:
- A clear project description detailing the purpose, functionalities, and potential impact of the AI solution. This may include:
- A working software application, a hardware mockup, or a well-developed concept with visualizations functional prototype in PDF, ZIP, or Word Doc format showcasing the project's working model.
- A 2-3 minute video presentation uploaded on YouTube as Unlisted, highlighting the solution's impact and feasibility.
- Optional: Additional materials such as code repositories, design sketches, or user research findings. These will likely earn you bonus points as well.
Project Deadline
- All submissions must be made before the specified deadline of June 30th. Late submissions will not be considered for evaluation.
Code of Conduct
- Participants must promote respectful and inclusive behavior throughout the hackathon.
Intellectual Property
- Participants retain ownership of their intellectual property. However, by submitting their projects, participants grant the organizers the right to showcase their work for promotional purposes.
Prizes
- Prizes will be awarded to the top-performing teams based on the judging criteria. Details of finalized prizes will be announced shortly before the hackathon begins.
Disqualification
- Teams found violating the rules or engaging in unethical behavior will be disqualified from the hackathon.
IMPORTANT
The organizers' decisions on all matters related to the hackathon, including eligibility, judging, and prize allocation, are final.
