CFS53 New report PSM IAFN member participation
The new report highlights the active participation of the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM) during CFS53, where members of the International Agri-Food Network (IAFN) represented the private sector in global food security discussions. Throughout the session, PSM members engaged with a wider community of stakeholders — including governments, civil society, farmers, and youth — to contribute evidence-based perspectives and practical solutions for resilient food systems. The report showcases how private sector voices enriched the dialogue, strengthened multi‑stakeholder collaboration, and helped shape priorities for 2026 with the new IAFN Secretariat.

PSM Position Paper: Urban and Peri-Urban Food Systems
The world’s food systems are at a critical point with growing calls for efforts to ensure food systems provide healthy diets while also reducing their impact on the climate and environment. Urban and peri-urban food systems offer unique solutions as they provide increased access to food in urban areas by developing shorter and more resilient value chains.

PSM Issues for Policy Covergence Process
The changing pattern of population agglomerations across this rural–urban continuum is driving changes throughout agrifood systems (SOFI 2023), creating both challenges and opportunities to ensure everyone has access to affordable healthy diets. Urban and peri-urban food systems offer unique solutions as they provide increased access to food in urban areas by developing shorter and more resilient value chains. The future lies in policies that enable flexibility, foster entrepreneurial initiatives, and address food system inequities. Policy frameworks that empower cities to act decisively while ensuring that local initiatives are supported and scaled.
