Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime - originally developed by Adobe and now actively maintained by HARMAN - that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (such as ActionScript, HTML, and JavaScript) to build and deploy Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) to both desktop and mobile platforms. It combines the seamless connectivity and rich media of web apps with the powerful functionality and local resource access of native applications.
