Weekend Writing Prompt #414 – Periwinkle

Good Sunday to you.  I should be washing windows or something just as productive.  And I will.  Right after I hit publish.  Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest, no?  Not for the homeowner in spring!  Thanks always to Sammi for hosting this weekly party.

Hoot Do

It’s Quadrille Monday on dVerse.  And I and I am actually here on a Monday.  Whoot!  De (WhimseyGizmo) is hosting and has asked us to use the word “Hoot” in our 44-word poem. Do enjoy!

Hoot do you do?
Say I unto you

Hoot you reply
giving me the side-eye

I mean no harm
With my best charm

You hoot and holler
A true heathen bawler

I fear, not here, resides the party?

I tease you, come, and hootenanny!

The Towers Have It

I was stuck while responding to Crispina’s challenge CCC#012 – though I knew exactly which matchy-matchy image I was going to use, the words were not working!  Then, Sammi’s Weekend Prompt #394 came out and the word to use “berate”.  Hmmmm.  It was just the piece I was missing.

WWP 394 Berate

Where shall we build the tower?

Atop the mountain, see from whence come our foe

Or down by the river, to catch them below

Which one gives us more power?

But wait!  No need to berate either’s choice

Why limit to one or the other?

If I were to have my druthers

We would keep not one, but both viewpoints

But the best would be

to try to avoid any fight

With all our might

And turn foe to friend

And live harmoniously

I know,  you’re right

I dream ridiculously!

The Best Combos

It was Quadrille Monday yesterday on dVerseLisa has asked us to use the wortd “with” in our 44-word poem.  Soooo many directions to go in with this one!  I was going to try to be more poetic but my voice is my voice and once I started typing, this came out! I am going to try harder next time.

Some combos in life

make everything better

Grilled cheese with tomato soup

or how about

Ice cream with apple pie

Those are tasty for sure

and a delight for the tastebuds

But let’s not forget

The very best combo is where

You’re with Me

Weekend Writing Prompt #390 – Diamond

Love me the short ones, Sammi. Thank you kindly for hosting this party weekly.  Should you wish to add your 19-word poem/story/essay/whatever… just click on the box below and leave a comment with a link to your story on Sammi’s blog.

Special gift from Mick

Despair profound

Two-day search

Found

**Almost three years ago, I freaked out.  I probably removed my ring and put it in my jeans pocket.  Mixed whatever I didn’t want to get all stuck in the ring.  Forgot the ring was in my pocket and hung my jeans over the bedrail.  When I searched through the pockets, it has obviously slipped out and hid in the folds of the bed spread.  Two days of panic and despair and a ridiculous amount of relief when I found it.

Weekend Writing Prompt #388 – Dark

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.
