Provides excellent gait rehabilitation
Using the Activators facilitates a natural reciprocal gait, so your patient can practise a normal arm swing and natural trunk rotation when walking. Then with the assistance of the Activators, there will be improved walking velocity and increased stability.
For patients with pain in the joints of the lower limb, the poles gradually permit a reduction in antalgic gait as the relevant muscles improve in strength and stamina.
Trendelenburg gait is reduced as the core muscles improve activation and strength.
Encourages upright trunk posture, unlike standard walking aids
Using the Activators poles encourages core muscle activation, unlike sticks, frames and elbow crutches which all tend to lead to a flexed trunk posture. The poles minimise the tendency to develop kyphotic thoracic posture.
The improvement in posture means that it is easier for the user to keep their eyes focused on what is ahead, rather than looking down at the floor providing safer mobilising.
Increases activation and strength of core muscles
Walking with the Activators promotes recruitment of the trunk muscles, which over a period of time strengthens them; this is in contrast to conventional walking aids which do not activate the core muscles but instead create a dependence on the aid.
Natural progression for some patients to walk unaided
As your patient practices walking with the Activators, thanks to the increased recruitment and strength of the core muscles, combined with practising a normal reciprocal gait pattern, there is often a natural and gradual progression to being able to walk unaided.
Initially the patient will report no longer needing the Activators for support when walking short distances, and with continued practice the distance will increase.
Innovative approach to Assistive device use and rehab
The Activators were designed by therapists with the aim of improving gait in a natural fashion while promoting activation and strengthening of the core muscles.
The user is able to gradually increase both walking velocity and endurance.
So unlike sticks and frames they are a true tool for rehabilitation, ??and people find that walking with them combined with using them to do some home exercises [4 to 5 times a week] results in significant improvement in gait.

What is an affiliate code?
Every physiotherapist that participates and completes the 3 hour Activator professional course (download on demand) is then certified to use and treat patients/clients with our poles. In addition, we issue you with a unique “Affiliate code” that belongs to you, or your practice / clinic, (this can be selected when the code is issued after course completion).
What do I do with the code ?
Every time you purchase more Poles or refer a patient/client to buy the poles, this code should be used at the point of purchase (on our web site store) to tag your identity to that purchase. You do not have to use this code and your patients / clients do not have to use it either if preferred.
Why use the code ?
Every time the code is used you personally and or your client/patient will qualify for discount against the normal pole costs. This discount may vary but will be at least 5%, if not more. So use of the affiliate code will save everyone money.
In addition, when the code is used by you or anyone else, you will be awarded a “bonus payment”. This is real money that is allocated to your “affiliate account” (yours or your practice). This is a minimum of 5% of the Pole cost (after discounts) but may change in the future depending upon the volume of Poles purchased using your code.
So use of your affiliate code provides a discount on the cost of the poles and generate real additional income to you / your practices’ affiliate account.
What if I don’t want an affiliate account?
Unlike many countries, the UK has the NHS that provides health care and assistive devices “free at the point of delivery”, so many NHS physiotherapists never have to be involved in payments or charges for any part of their service. Where you /your practice does not wish to have an affiliate code account, with your permission we will allocate any future affiliate income (generated by pole purchase) to our “ActivatorUK Foundation fund”. This fund is then used to purchase Activator Poles at “cost price” (so generates no profit for our company) and we can then gift these Poles to people and organisations in the UK that can benefit from their use, but cannot afford to buy them. So even if you don’t want to benefit for your own affiliate code, we ask that you consider donating the rewards of your account so that our Foundation can give more Poles to those who cannot afford them.

Once you complete the professional Activator course, we will provide you with detailed information about the affiliate scheme, the Activator Foundation and you will understand all of the detail and how best to use your code going forward. Our support staff are always on hand to answer your questions as well.
