AccuGo offers a streamlined approach to managing the dietary requirements associated with homocystinuria (HCU) by providing a swift and user-friendly method to estimate and monitor protein or methionine intake from consumed foods.

Homocystinuria (HCU) is a hereditary metabolic disorder that impairs the body's ability to process methionine, an amino acid found in various dietary sources. Due to enzymatic deficiency, individuals with HCU are unable to adequately break down methionine, leading to its accumulation—and that of homocystine—in the bloodstream. Elevated levels of these substances can result in progressive complications affecting the central nervous system, eyes, skeletal structure, and cardiovascular health. Clinical manifestations include cognitive impairment, lens dislocation with potential blindness if untreated, seizures, osteoporosis, as well as increased risk for myocardial infarction and stroke. These health issues contribute to decreased quality of life and shortened lifespan.
